If you like the idea of holidaying amongst nature, surrounded by wild meadows and birdsong, but you also like your creature comforts, Shepherd's Retreat is the perfect bolthole for you. Built on the frame of an old vintage cart, this quirky self-catering accommodation is full of character and charm, including old oak beams and a hand crafted oak kitchen, yet you can also enjoy the luxury of central heating, a wood burning stove, WiFi and two TVs! Shepherd's Retreat is located on Foxhill Farm, on the outskirts of the village of Alderholt, a stone's throw from the New Forest National Park. It is set apart from the other cottages on the farm and is walking distance to the village shop and pub, The Churchill Arms.
With a mixture of forest, countryside and moorland on your doorstep there is plenty to keep any outdoor enthusiasts entertained. The forestry tracks at Ringwood Forest are within walking and cycling distance, whilst the New Forest National Park is just a short drive away. Sitting peacefully on the bank of the River Avon, Fordingbridge is just over two miles away. With a history that dates back further than the Domesday Book, this pretty New Forest town boasts a good variety of independent shops, cafes and pubs as well as a picturesque medieval arched bridge.
If you are looking for a day out, Moors Valley Country Park is a great choice as it has footpaths and cycling trails, a small steam railway, Go Ape treetop adventures, picnic spots and lovely views. Or visit the New Forest Water Park where you can go wake-boarding, paddle-boarding, kayaking and have fun playing on the inflatables. If you fancy a trip to the seaside it is less than half an hour away from the shops and beaches in Bournmouth, or go fossil hunting on the Jurassic Coast. And for a change of scenery you shouldn't miss a trip to the cathedral city of Salisbury.
With convenient transport links to London, you can be enjoying a glass of wine tucked up by the cosy wood burning stove or on the peaceful patio in front of the chiminea just a few hours after leaving the office on Friday night. Perfect for a short break, or a longer holiday, Shepherd's Retreat is a cosy base from which to explore the beautiful New Forest National Park and surrounding area.

Accommodation Comprises:
A beautifully restored Shepherd's Hut perfectly combining rural living with modern day comforts.
Outside: A stable door leads onto a patio with chiminea (first basket of logs provided) which is a lovely spot for an evening glass of wine or peaceful morning coffee. There is off-street parking, and the owners also offer secure storage for bikes and a boat.
Additional information: Utilities, quality linen and towels are all included. The hut has central heating and WiFi. Dogs are welcome by arrangement - £10.00 per stay dog fee charged. The owner's request that dogs do not go into the bedroom or on the furniture. Two night short breaks are available all year round, depending on availability. Smoking is not permitted. Please note that due to stairs to access Shepherd's Retreat it is not suitable for those with limited mobility.
