Sarnia Retreat is a bright holiday home in Poole set in a quiet residential street that’s just a short drive from the harbour and only half a mile from the friendly New Inn pub. The house has been recently refurbished and feels calm from the moment you step inside. Downstairs, there is space for everyone to settle in, with a living room featuring deep sofas and a large television for relaxed evenings. The dining table sits close by for shared meals or a board game at the end of the day, and the kitchen opens onto the garden through wide French doors so children can play on the lawn while adults sit outside with a drink. Simple things. But they make a holiday house easy to live in. The flexible sleeping layout and off-road parking add to its appeal to families and groups of friends.
Poole has grown around its harbour for centuries and the water still shapes daily life here. Poole Quay is the best place to see it. Fishing boats leave early in the morning and sailing yachts drift in and out through the day. Old warehouses line the waterfront and now house cafés, pubs and seafood restaurants. Boat trips leave from the quay and circle the islands of Poole Harbour. Some continue across to Brownsea Island where woodland paths wind through quiet forests and red squirrels dart through the trees. A short drive brings you to Sandbanks. The long sandy beach here regularly appears on lists of Britain’s best beaches. The water is calm and clear which makes it popular with swimmers and paddleboarders. From Sandbanks the chain ferry crosses to Studland and the Isle of Purbeck. This is where the Jurassic Coast begins. White chalk stacks rise from the sea at Old Harry Rocks and the ruins of Corfe Castle stand above the surrounding hills.
Bournemouth is only a few miles away and brings a livelier seaside atmosphere. The long promenade runs for miles and the pier stretches out into the bay. Inland Dorset quickly becomes quieter with rolling countryside, small villages and traditional pubs. With beaches, harbour towns and countryside all nearby, Sarnia Retreat makes an easy place to stay while exploring this part of the south coast.

Utilities, WiFi, bed linen and bath towels are included. Guests will need to bring beach towels and dog bedding if needed. Well-behaved dogs are welcome by arrangement and are subject to a surchrage - please notify the owner when booking if you will be bringing your pets. Smoking is not permitted. Quiet hours between 11pm and 8am, as this is a residential area.
