Lavender Lodge is as pretty as a picture. The charming two-bedroom stone cottage is in Bourton-on-the-Water, one of the most famous villages in the Cotswolds. You're only within a two-minute stroll of shops, restaurants, cafes and the picturesque River Windrush that has given the village its nickname of the Venice of the Cotswolds. The cottage is tastefully furnished with high-quality touches in every room. With two bedrooms, one of which can be configured with twin single or a kingsize bed, and two bathrooms, Lavender Lodge is perfect for couples and families.
Bourton-on-the-Water encapsulates everything people love about the Cotswolds. It's full of pretty honey-coloured stone buildings typical of this area, and you'll always see people sitting next to the river, taking shade under the willow trees in summer. Though very popular with visitors, Bourton-on-the-Water is no film set but a living, breathing community that takes pride in the village's history, beauty, and variety of independent shops, pubs and other businesses. Bourton's attractions include the Model Village, Birdland, The Cotswold Motoring and Toy Museum, and the Cotswold Brewing Company. Bring or hire a bike and cycle around the village and along waymarked routes like the Windrush Way and the Cotswold Way. You can also arrange a guided bicycle tour with a local guide.
Spend pleasurable days exploring other Cotswold villages and market towns. Stow-on-the-Wold is only a few miles from the cottage with a fantastic array of places to eat and shop, as is Broadway. Lower Slaughter is one of the most photographed villages in England, while Tetbury has an incredible array of antique shops and is close to Westonbirt Arboretum. There is an impressive Roman villa in Chedworth, while Lacock Abbey will be recognisable to fans of the Harry Potter films. Pick up supplies for your self-catering holiday at local markets or pop over to Daylesford and its iconic, award-winning organic farm shop. Other days out can include shopping and sightseeing in Bath, Cheltenham and Cirencester, marvelling at the magnificence of Blenheim Palace, bagging a designer bargain at Bicester, following in the footsteps of the Bard in Stratford-Upon-Avon, or admiring the fascinating exhibits at the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford.
Lavender Lodge is ideal if you're escaping to the Cotswolds for one of the area's many fantastic festivals and events, enjoying a weekend shopping with a friend, or planning a more extended stay so you can fully enjoy its many beautiful attractions.
