Granary Barn is a charming self-catering cottage in the Cotswolds. Originally built to store and mill grain on Downhouse Farm, it has recently been renovated to provide holiday accommodation for four people in two bedrooms and with a single-storey layout ideal for couples and families. The location, just a mile from Dursley, is perfect for walkers as it gives direct access to the Cotswold Way footpath between Chipping Campden and Bath. Being right on the edge of the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) makes it easy to explore and enjoy the treasure trove of sights and experiences this world-famous region offers.
Dursley is a thriving market town in the South Cotswolds. The surrounding hills make it a popular base for walkers, many of whom come for the annual Walking Festival that is held in October. If the 102 miles of the Cotswold Way feels daunting, you can try the scenic 14-mile Lantern Way from Dursley to Coaley and Uley. Other local routes incorporate Stinchcombe Hill, Cam Peak, and Cam Long Down, which offer breath-taking views beyond the River Severn towards the Welsh border. Granary Barn is dog-friendly, as are many pubs in the area, making this a perfect choice for couples and families with pets.
Nearby attractions include Slimbridge Wetlands, Westonbirt Arboretum, Berkeley Castle, Woodchester Park, and Cattle Country Adventure Park. Granary Barn is only 14 miles from Gloucester Cathedral and historic docks and is also convenient for the gorgeous Rococo gardens at Painswick. Alternatively, take longer day trips and discover the sights of Bath, Bristol, Cheltenham, Cirencester, or Bourton-on-the-Water.
