About Blaendyffryn Fach

Blaendyffryn Fach is set on the owner's smallholding in the beautiful West Wales countryside on the edge of Llanllwni Mountain ( Mynydd Llanllwni ) and just a mile away from the village of Llanllwni . This peaceful rural setting is ideal for relaxation and being with nature. Llanllwni is positioned on the A 485 approximately midway between the busy small university town of Lampeter and the larger market and county town of Carmarthen.

It is a good base for walking and cycling to explore the area and its many attractions. Artists also have a love for this place and putting paint on canvas is so tempting with the amazing scenery and the Red kites and Buzzards circling overhead. There is easy access to Llanllwni Mountain a beautiful area of sweeping heathland covered in gorse, bracken and a multitude of wild flowers with an amazing colourful display of heather in late summer. It is possible to spot some of over 85 species of birds who inhabit the area.

Only a short distance away is Brechfa Forest covering an area of around 6500 hectares which is ideal for those who love walking. There are many interesting tracks to follow ranging from very easy to slightly more strenuous and of varying lengths . The forest is one of Wales's premier mountain biking destinations with purpose built trails for all abilities. It is a perfect place for wildlife watching.

The coast is only a half hour drive away to discover the gorgeous sandy beaches & coves of Cardigan Bay and the stunning coastal path, the harbour town of Aberaeron and bustling New Quay with its selection of shops, cafes and restaurants.Wildlife watching boat trips can be taken where it is possible to see the bay's resident Dolphins or Seals.

Alternatively travel inland a short distance and take in the history of the Dolaucothi Gold Mines the only Roman gold mine in the UK where you can take an underground tour or maybe try your hand at gold panning. This is run by The National Trust and situated at Pumsaint.Slightly further afield is the the National Botanic Garden of Wales at Llanarthne which first opened to the public in 2000 and is now an established beautiful place for amateurs and professionals alike with its amazing centrepiece being the largest single span glasshouse in the world designed by Sir Norman Foster and contains areas inside covering world-wide regions mimicking their natural conditions.

Another trip out is to the little town of Llandeilo, maybe stopping off for lunch before heading off to Dinefwr Castle Estate owned by The National Trust. Built in 12th century and perched above the Tywi Valley with commanding views.

The nearby town of Llandysul is home to a kayaking/Canoeing centre on the edge of the River Teifi which flows through the town. For those who love fishing the banks of the Towy & Cothi rivers are such peaceful places to while away many happy hours.
