Ashtree Cottage is set in an elevated position within the beautiful Welsh countryside of the Towy Valley, offering a five-star accessible retreat with far-reaching views and peaceful surroundings. Thoughtfully designed to be inclusive, the property provides a welcoming and comfortable base for guests of all ages and abilities.
The area is ideal for those who enjoy the outdoors, with excellent opportunities for cycling, walking, photography, birdwatching, and fishing on the Rivers Towy and Cothi. The cottage is perfectly located for exploring some of Wales’ most popular attractions, including the Brecon Beacons National Park, Brechfa Forest mountain bike trails, historic castles, gardens, and stately homes. The stunning Welsh coastline is also within easy driving distance.
Sleeping up to eight guests, Ashtree Cottage is located just outside the village of Llanfynydd, approximately twelve miles from Carmarthen—the oldest town in Wales—and seven miles from the vibrant market town of Llandeilo, known for its independent shops and riverside setting. Family-friendly attractions such as Folly Farm, Aberglasney Gardens and medieval mansion, and the National Botanic Garden of Wales are all close by.
The cottage is surrounded by beautifully maintained gardens, offering panoramic views across the Valley and towards the Black Mountains. A sloping driveway leads to the property, which backs onto native woodland filled with wildflowers and birdlife. Beyond the gardens is a spacious field designed for family enjoyment, featuring an activity trail, slide, swings, and a trampoline.

If you are looking for high-quality, accessible self-catering accommodation with generous space for family and friends, Ashtree Cottage is an ideal choice. Converted from a former carpenter’s workshop, this spacious five-star holiday lodge has been thoughtfully designed with larger families and group stays in mind. In recent years, shared holidays with extended family and friends have become increasingly popular, particularly for those travelling with guests who have mobility or accessibility needs—and Ashtree Cottage caters exceptionally well for this.
The cottage appeals to a wide range of guests, including walkers, photographers, golfers, artists, and outdoor enthusiasts. For those seeking adventure, the area offers opportunities for mountain biking, horse riding, fishing, windsurfing, quad biking, and for the more adventurous, coasteering and abseiling. The property itself is particularly suited to holidaymakers with accessibility requirements, offering excellent wheelchair manoeuvrability throughout this single-level accommodation. Bedrooms have been designed to suit a variety of individual needs. For specific requirements, guests are encouraged to discuss their needs in advance—Grace will be more than happy to help.
Inside, the open-plan living space includes a well-equipped kitchen and dining area with an extendable table and seating. A central hallway leads to two comfortable double bedrooms, a three-bedded room overlooking the fields with a bunk bed and single bed, and a wheelchair-friendly single room featuring an electric height-adjustable profiling bed. The property includes a family bathroom with bath and shower, as well as a fully accessible wet room. A dedicated playroom provides a safe and fun space for children, while adults can relax in the spacious and comfortable lounge. This versatile living area is welcoming and practical for all guests.
Outside, the property is surrounded by decking with wheelchair-friendly paths and ramps, along with ample off-road parking. A large two-acre field provides plenty of space for outdoor games and includes a children’s play area with swings, slides, trapeze bars, a netball hoop, and a large trampoline. A specialist swing with full-support harnessed seats for both adults and children is also available. Secure storage is provided for mountain bikes, outdoor equipment, and car-top boxes.
Additional facilities include underfloor heating, two bathrooms, drying facilities, a high chair, travel cot, ironing facilities, barbecue, garden furniture, large garden and wooded area, playroom, and secure bike storage. An electric portable hoist (Invacare Birdie, 170kg), shower chair/commode, and profiling bed are available. Guests are asked to bring their own towels.
Electricity, central heating, and hot water are included. Prices are based on eight guests sharing. Please enquire for Christmas and New Year rates.
Group bookings are welcome. When Ashtree Cottage and Stangwrach Cottage are booked together, up to twelve guests can be accommodated. Please note that arrival days differ during peak season due to enhanced cleaning schedules.
