Dog Friendly in Anglesey

Whether you are looking for miles and miles of hiking tracks, or large sandy beaches to really blow the cobwebs away, there are plenty of dog walking opportunities on Anglesey in North Wales. Aside from the plentiful walks there are also a number of dog friendly activities including visiting historical sites, family friendly days out and places to eat and drink with your four legged friends.

No trip to Anglesey is complete without a visit to one or more of the fantastic beaches. The vast expanse of sand at Red Wharf Bay is always a big hit with two and four legged friends alike. Red Wharf Bay is dog friendly all year round and at low tide the beach covers nearly 10 square miles. The nearby dog friendly Ship Inn is a great spot to grab some lunch and admire the views of the bay. Other popular beaches with no dog restrictions all year round include Church Bay, Lligwy Beach, and Rhosneigr's Traeth Crigyll and Traeth Llydan.

The 125 miles of the Anglesey Coastal Path also provides fantastic walking opportunities covering sandy beaches, rugged cliffs, expansive sand dunes and charming coves. It officially starts in Holyhead and is typically walked in an anti-clockwise direction but you can pick and choose which section you would like to explore. Alternatively take a walk through on the diverse trails through Newborough Forest or Holyhead Breakwater Country Park.

If you are looking for a family day out to explore some of Anglesey’s favourite attractions well behaved dogs on leads are welcome at Beaumaris Castle, Foel Farm Park and walking trails around the Copper Mine at Parys Mountain. If you would like to set sail some boat trips are also dog friendly so your pooch can enjoy a trip out to sea too! Many pubs welcome dogs, with The Oystercatcher and The White Eagle both being popular choices for a meal out.

To top it all off we have a selection of fantastic dog friendly properties in Anglesey ranging from cosy cottages with a log burner fires to large luxury retreats, perfect for multigenerational holidays or a special celebration.
