About The Hen House

The Hen House sleeps up to four guests in two bedrooms (both en-suite) and is a newly converted stable block that sits on a family run working farm in a wonderful part of Wiltshire. With an open plan living area with open beams, oak floor and modern conveniences (including Superfast Wi-Fi), this stylish holiday home is an ideal retreat for couples, families and friends at any time of the year.

Located at Manor Farm, The Hen House is situated in East Grafton, a pretty village in the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Well located, this charming holiday cottage provides an ideal base for exploring the area with the Wilton Windmill, Savernake Forest, the famous Crofton Beam Engines and the Kennet and Avon Canal all within just two miles. Stonehenge, Avebury, Marlborough, Silbury Hill, Ridgeway, Devizes, Hungerford and the Cathedral City of Salisbury are nearby, providing a wealth of attractions and great days out. Other attractions within easy reach that are popular with guests are Longleat Safari Park, Legoland, Lacock Abbey, Stourhead, Bowood and the historic Roman City of Bath.

Wiltshire's beautiful rolling landscape is dotted with small market towns just waiting to be explored and the countryside surrounding Manor Farm provides plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities. Whether you enjoy cycling, walking or horse-riding, the area has much to offer and is a haven for wildlife including red kites, lapwing, hares, barn owls, roe and fallow deer.

The Forest and Canal offer great traffic free walking and cycling opportunities and there are miles of bridleways and byways through local woodland and across beautiful downland (you can bring our own horse to explore them!). There is access to excellent mountain bike routes and great off road tracks or enjoy a more sedate ride along the quite country lanes and stop for lunch at a local pub along the way! Other popular outdoor pursuits available locally include fly fishing at Manningford Fishery, clay pigeon shooting at Lains Shooting School, golf at Tidworth and Marlborough, riding stables at Pewsey Vale Riding Centre and outdoor karting at Thruxton.

Manor farm is an excellent base for exploring Wiltshire's many attractions including the famous Wiltshire White horses and crop circles, and within easy reach of lovely little villages, towns and cities.

Location (Wiltshire)

The Hen House sits on a family run arable and organic beef farm and is an attractive red brick conversion from what was once the stable block. The cottage is surrounded by lovely countryside and has a sun trap patio ideal for alfresco dining and relaxing.

Everything has been provided to ensure your holiday is relaxing and gets off to a good start including tea, coffee, sugar and fresh milk. Bed linen and towels are provided, along with dishwasher tables and washing up liquid so you won't need to pack too much. If you want a night out, trusted (and qualified) baby sitters can be arranged.

Accommodation comprises:

  • Bedroom one with king-size bed and en-suite bathroom with shower over the bath, WC and wash basin.
  • Bedroom two offers flexible sleeping with two single beds that can also be arranged as a super-king by prior arrangement. This room also affords a large en-suite shower room.
  • Open plan sitting/dining/kitchen area with oak floor, open beams, comfortable sofas, large flat screen television, Superfast Wi-Fi internet access, iPod docking and speakers. The kitchen area is well equipped with a dishwasher, fridge/freezer, double oven, washing machine and microwave.

Outside: There is a patio area that enjoys sunshine for most of the day in the warmer weather. Plenty of off-road parking and a lockable bike shed and boot wash area available.

Additional information: All bed linen and towels are provided and included in the price. Short breaks are available all year round and are normally Friday to Monday and Monday to Friday but the owner's try to be flexible about start days so please enquire (minimum stay two nights). Children welcome. Sorry, no dogs allowed in The Hen House but the owner does accept them in their other property. A discount for under occupancy may be available - please enquire. Debit and credit card payments accepted - there is an additional 2% charge for credit card transactions.

Accessibility: All rooms are on the ground floor and there is just one step to access the property (ramp can be provided). For further information please ask the owner.
