Pear Tree House is a dream self-catering holiday home in Suffolk. The spacious property easily accommodates up to 14 people in six bedrooms and is perfect for large or extended families or groups of friends. Sip a cold drink as you recline beside the pool or enjoy a pre-dinner aperitif to the sound of birds heading in to roost as the sun goes down. With far-reaching views of the sort that inspired Constable and Gainsborough, it is the ideal spot to relax and enjoy your holiday.
Sitting in the village of Higham, Pear Tree House puts guests in the heart of the Dedham Vale an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and within an easy stroll (or bike ride) of Statford St Mary, the award winning Le Talbooth Restaurant of Dedham and Milsoms contemporary brasserie. It is easy to see why some of Britain's greatest artists and writers chose to immortalise the area's natural beauty in their work. In some ways, little has changed over the passing centuries and the view Constable painted in "The Stour Valley from Higham" is still recognisable. The Stour Valley Pathway and the St Edmund's Way footpaths run close to the house, as does The Painter's Way national cycle route, making it simple to discover some of the area's most breathtaking vistas.
Higham has a pretty church, St Mary's, parts of which were standing in 1066 when the Domesday Book was collated, but most of which was built in the 15th and 16th Centuries. Dedham is only a few miles from Pear Tree House, providing visitors with an array of places to eat, drink and shop. More amenities, including museums, cinemas and other leisure attractions are a few miles further in Ipswich and Colchester. Some of the many local attractions include Colchester Castle, Colchester Zoo, Sutton Hoo, Ickworth House and Mersea Island. There is a direct train to London from nearby Manningtree station.
Suffolk's beaches and coastline are famed for their beauty. Frinton, Felixstowe and Old Felixstowe are all an easy drive away, as are Clacton and Walton on the Naze, and driving to Southwold takes an hour and a quarter or head to Aldeburgh which is a little closer (one hour).
Suffolk is a holiday destination that offers something for everyone all year round. The scenery is both timeless yet ever-changing, and you will notice new details every day you are there. There are ancient towns, pretty villages and beaches with traditional seaside entertainment that is as amusing for children today as they were for their grandparents. The high standard of accommodation at Pear Tree House is ideal for guests of all ages, with some guests returning year after year to enjoy this beautiful part of the country.
