Lattice Lodge has been an integral part of the Ipswich landscape for over a century, having been built as a doctor's surgery in 1908. It sleeps up to 29 people in 14 very comfortable bedrooms, each with a TV and an ensuite shower room. The holiday home, which retains many of its original Edwardian features, is less than a mile from the centre of town, and there's a regular bus service if you don't want to walk. The large kitchen has recently been refurbished and is ideal for group self-catering, with the owners thoughtfully providing essentials like dishwasher tablets, kitchen roll and seasoning. There's a local supermarket, bakery and greengrocer all within strolling distance, and you're also close to friendly pubs like The Fat Cat. Families, extended families and friends love Lattice Lodge for reunions, celebrations, and hosting groups in town for a wedding or to perform in a show.
Historic Ipswich has lots to offer visitors in all seasons. As one of the oldest towns in England, there's not much it hasn't seen from Saxons to Vikings, a mention in Chaucer's Canterbury Tales, and visits from Elizabeth I and Charles Dickens. Though its heritage as an essential Wool Town is behind it, Ipswich still has a thriving community with an exciting art and theatre scene. Browse one-of-a-kind shops and eat in independently owned and run cafes, shops and pubs. There has been a regular market since 1200, with vendors setting out their wares next to the Corn Exchange and Town Hall on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Popular activities include wandering around Ipswich Waterfront, stopping at a bar to drink in the view and people-watch. The Ipswich Transport Museum, Baylham House Rare Breeds Farm, and Jimmy's Farm are a favourite with children. Christchurch Mansion is a lovely place to while away a few hours, while Christchurch Park and Chantry Park are perfect for picnics. Felixstowe Beach is 12 miles and Aldeburgh is 23 miles from Lattice Lodge, and there are a wealth of footpaths nearby in the Suffolk Coast and Heaths AONB. Colchester and Cambridge are also within reach for a day out.
Price shown is for 11 rooms sleeping up to 22 people. Up to 3 additional ensuite bedrooms are available at a pro-rata additional cost.
