Apartment 5, The Maltworks, is a gorgeous new apartment in a historic mill that has recently been converted to a very high standard. The interior is a stunning mix of industrial heritage and 21st Century technology. The one-bedroom property does not skimp on space or style, and couples and solo travellers will have lots of room to spread out and relax. Large South facing windows allow ample light into the open plan living space. Original steel beams, exposed brickwork, wooden floors, cast iron radiators, and crittall style windows provide a stylish finish to the property, whilst nodding towards its past. The Maltworks is in Clare, within walking distance of boutique shops, friendly pubs and independent businesses like the wonderful Small Town Coffee, so its location is very convenient for guests.
Clare is the smallest town in Suffolk, but is not short on history or points of interest, with 135 Listed buildings including a 13th century Augustinian Priory, a grand medieval church and an Ancient House Museum . The pretty market town has fantastic antique and homeware shops and boasts three excellent pubs as well as a health spa, beauty salon and a lovely church. Clare has a genuine warmth and charm, and it is a popular place in which to live and visit. The Maltworks is just outside the grounds of Clare Castle Country Park, which are beautiful in every season, and there is a golf course nearby for those who can't resist the lure of new greens. The "Clare Walks" are six loops of between two and seven miles that take visitors through this magnificent countryside to places like Cavendish, Mill Meadows, and along the River Stour. A selection of farm shops (Baythorne hall and Willow Tree) with local produce, cafe & restaurants are located within 7 mins drive.
Day trips can include sightseeing in Constable Country - the breathtaking Dedham Vale landscape that inspired one of Britain's most beloved painters. Bury St Edmunds, Long Melford and Lavenham are also close by, offering a wealth of shops, sights and places of interest to discover and enjoy. Drive a little further, and in an hour, you'll find the ancient city of Cambridge with its incredible architecture and historic buildings. Drive an hour east to dig your toes into the sand in the tiny beach at Manningtree, or continue for another 10 minutes to reach Harwich and the Essex Sunshine Coast.
Apartment 5 at The Maltworks is perfect for contemporary couples who want to enjoy beautiful rural surroundings without sacrificing comfort or style.
