The house is decorated and furnished in a sympathetic way but with a splash of excitement to reflect the party feel. Large beds with cotton sheets await.
Accommodation
The main house sleeps 28 in 12 bedrooms (6 of which are en-suite). The Gardner's Cottage sleeps a further 8. In total, there are six separate bathrooms shared by nine bedrooms, two of which are singles/bunk-style, and perfect for children. Some beds can be made up as twins or doubles.
The reception rooms in the house are all big, and include the Salon (which is acts as a living and dining space), a library and kitchen, with a huge table for breakfast. There is also a basement, in which to create your very own club night, as well as an outdoor swimming pool.
The Hall sits in 18 acres of gardens, parkland and farmland. There are large terraces and lawns – perfect for a marquee off the Salon or in the park or walled garden. There are also over 2 acres of orchard to wander in on a summer’s eve, and which produce cider and cider vinegar.
In addition, it is possible to camp in the orchard, where there are separate facilities for campers, either in your own tents or furnished bell tents can be provided by a local supplier. Perfect for wedding guests, or a tiny, clandestine summer festival.
Sparkford Hall is very private. The village is some distance away, and we do allow all night music in the cellar which well insulated.
Weddings
Having a wedding at Sparkford Hall is like having a wedding at your own house. The place is yours to do with what you wish (within some boundaries of course!) and you can create your day exactly as you envisage it. The owners are happy for you to plan everything yourselves as you would if it was your own home. But if you prefer, they can put you in touch with one of their wedding planner partners with great knowledge of local suppliers and can assist you all the way. There is no corkage fee so you can bring all your own alcohol.
Mid-week weddings are available (including an overnight stay) for a reasonable price, and suppliers are often cheaper mid-week too.
Things To Do
There’s lots to do in the surrounding area – Sparkford is on the very edge of the West Country with all of its attractions – Glastonbury Tor is nearby (and Glastonbury town), as is Wookey Hole, Cheddar Gorge and Haynes Motor Museum. There is also the ancient hill-fort of Cadbury Castle – where it is said on fine nights you can see horsemen with torches, galloping through the dappled moonlight, protecting King Arthur as he sleeps.
About The Location
Sparkford Hall is just off several A roads, between the M5 and M3, just below Glastonbury. The nearest main-line train station is in Castle Cary, and a taxi from the station would take about 20 minutes.
