Rosary Cottage offers a lovely mix of classic and contemporary and is a welcoming holiday home located in the rural village of Chilton Polden on the Somerset Levels. Sleeping six guests in three bedrooms, it is ideally located for families and friends wanting to explore this beautiful part of the West Country. Recently refurbished, the owners have really thought of everything to ensure your stay is as comfortable and relaxing as possible. Not only is there a rack outside for muddy boots, a hose in the garden for dogs, superfast broadband throughout and USB charging ports in all the bedrooms, but the icing on the cake has to be the drinks fridge in the charming summer house in the garden. Whilst you can enjoy leisurely BBQs during the summer, you will love snuggling up in front of the log burner during the cooler winter months. With fantastic walks from the front door, dogs owners will be pleased to know that your four legged friends are welcome too!
Just a short walk from the holiday cottage, you can either pick up supplies from the village shop or enjoy a meal out at the newly refurbished Leather and Lace Bar and Grill. If you are happy to venture slightly further afield there is a choice of two pubs in the neighbouring village of Catcott, or you will find a wide choice of eateries in the nearby towns of Glastonbury, Bridgwater and Street. Glastonbury, Axbridge and Castle Cary also host regular street markets where you will find a wide variety of local produce, crafts and gifts.
The Somerset Levels are perfect for walking and cycling. You can lace up your walking boots and set out from the front door, or head to the Nature Reserves at Catcott, RSPB Greylake or Shapwick Heath, all of which are a short drive away. Make sure you pack your binoculars as there is plenty of wildlife, including many rare breeds of birds, to spot along the way. Any keen cyclists can take advantage of the quiet lanes and cycle paths, or join Route 3 of the National Cycle Network which runs right through Chilton Polden and onto Wells, Glastonbury and Bridgwater. If you are looking for something that mini cyclists can enjoy too, the four miles of mainly traffic free cycling along the Bittern Trail makes a lovely day out.
If you want a day of sun, sand and sea, there are plenty of beaches to choose from. The traditional coastal resort of Western-Super-Mare and the long sandy beaches at Burnham-on-Sea are both within easy reach. Or if you fancy trying your hand at a variety of watersports head to the beach at Minehead just an hour away. This is also a lovely spot for rock pooling, building sand castles and enjoying a family game of rounders. Any adventure seekers will love a day out at Wall Eden Adventure and kids of all ages will love exploring the Wookey Hole Caves. Learn more about the history and heritage of the area at Glastonbury Abbey or the The Roman Baths in Bath whilst any Cider lovers shouldn't miss a trip to Sheppy’s House of Cider in Taunton.
With so much to explore you will have to come back and visit this beautiful spot again and again! Whether you are looking for a short break or a longer family holiday, Rosary Cottage is a popular choice at any time of the year.
