Tyn Y Ffridd is a beautiful, get-away-from-it-all holiday cabin in Snowdonia. It sleeps four guests in two bedrooms and is perfect for couples and families who enjoy being outdoors and active during the day, yet who want to feel comfortable and cosy at night. It is set in a peaceful location near Bronaber village (within walking distance of a cafe!), around three miles south of Trawsfynydd village and lake.
You will be amazed at how clean the air is and how bright the night skies are in this part of the Snowdonia National Park. The roads may be few and far between, but the villages and communities are friendly and welcoming, so you will not have any trouble finding what you want whether it is local ingredients for a picnic lunch, a home-cooked meal at a country pub, or even a new waterproof coat!
The area around Trawsfynydd is world-famous with mountain bikers, hikers and lovers of adventure, and you will find plenty of opportunity for fun-filled days whatever your preferred activity and skill level is. Coed-y-Brenin mountain bike centre is only two miles from Tyn y Ffridd, and you can ride there directly from the cabin. Blaenau Ffestiniog is less than three miles away and has World-Class mountain biking trails, including some hair-raising downhills! The historic town is also home to Zip World Caverns and Bounce Below, as well as the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Heritage Railways - a fantastic way to enjoy some of the most stunning scenery in the Snowdonia National Park.
Despite its peaceful appearance, the region has a rich and diverse history that you can learn more about at the Llys Ednowain Heritage Centre. Tomen-y-Mur Roman Fort was part of the Romans campaign to solidify their rule in Wales. The Normans later built a fort there, and the extensive ruins of both are visible today whether you incorporate them into a longer walk or park in the nearby carpark.
The vibrant market town of Dolgellau is only ten miles south of Bronaber. It is an excellent choice to stock up on provisions as it has a good variety of shops and places to eat and drink. Hikers will appreciate the beauty of the Precipice Walk, or you can take your bike and cycle along the Mawddach River Bike Trail. Another town to see is Porthmadog. It is 15 miles away by car but also on the Ffestiniog train line, and known for the colourful resort of Portmeirion as well as its lovely harbour.
Whether you spend your days exploring caverns, hiking mountains, pushing yourself on challenging hiking and cycling paths or simply jumping in the car and seeing where the day takes you, your time at Tyn y Ffridd will leave you with incredible memories and a desire to return to the Snowdonia National Park for further adventures.
