About The Granary

The Granary is set in 18 acres of private grounds with fantastic, uninterrupted views spanning over thirty miles of wonderful scenery.

Although peaceful and secluded, the cottage is easily accessible from the A5 on tarmac and is centrally positioned for exploring the Snowdonia National Park, along with the many attractions of North Wales; Harlech Castle, Betws-y-Coed, Portmeirion and Anglesey are all within easy reach. Snowdon, Cader Idris and Zipworld are all also less than a one hour drive away.

We only have The granary and Tudor Cottage onsite and we don’t allow children, so you are guaranteed a quiet stay. Both cottages are completely separate and The Granary has its own private decking area, but guests also have free range of the 18 acres of private grounds, including a hilltop sauna with glass wall and amazing views for 30 miles! Private lake with 2 kayaks, rowing boat and the log cabin for when you just want to chill. There is also a diving jetty at the lakes deepest point (twelve feet), great for a bit of ‘wild swimming’. 7 hole Frisbee/Disc Golf course that is a real hit with whoever plays it! You might not want to leave once you arrive.

From the front doorstep you can enjoy beautiful walks including the Bronzed Aged hill fort (the view from the bedroom) and a whole network of footpaths providing both long and short walks where you will rarely see another soul.

If you want to do a bit more, we can make recommendations for: mountain biking, white water rafting, paddle boarding, horse riding or whatever takes your fancy!

The fascinating town of Bala is just a fifteen minute drive away. At the head of its famous lake, it provides numerous activities to enjoy including white water rafting, swimming, sailing, paddle boarding, fishing, wind-surfing, riding, mountain bike hire and canoeing, along with the narrow gauge lakeside steam railway. There are also excellent shops including two supermarkets where you can stock up on provisions and many independent shops, along with plenty of good eating establishments including pubs, restaurants and takeaways.

The local pub/restaurant (The Goat) is less than a ten minute drive away from the cottages and offers a warm welcome, a good atmosphere and great takeaways! We would also highly recommend Abul’s Spice (our very own award winning Indian restaurant) or the quirky Old Wives Tales in Bala for an unforgettable eating experience! There is also a local garage/shop within a ten minute drive if you forget anything.

The Granary is ideal for couples and fully up to date with wireless broadband, excellent mobile phone reception for all networks, Smart TV and Sonos Speakers, so you can play your own music via Spotify of Apple (download the App on your phone). If none of that is important to you and you’re just looking for a romantic stay, this is it!                                                                                                                                                        We have recently installed a workstation with desk, chair, lamp etc if you need to work while your away.
