About Marton Hall

Marton Hall is a remarkable Arts and Crafts country house tucked within its own 150 acres of lawns, parkland and woodland in a quiet Shropshire hamlet. Built in 1913–14 from local red sandstone and restored with great care, it's a place designed for gathering over long dinners, milestone birthdays, reunions and unhurried weekends with the people who matter. The house sleeps twelve across six individually styled en-suite bedrooms, many featuring antique furniture, fireplaces and views across the grounds. Guests can spread out in several reception rooms, from the light-filled lounge to the oak-panelled morning room, and enjoy the sense of space that only a house of this scale can offer. With the nearest pub in Baschurch within walking distance, and a peaceful rural outlook from every window, Marton Hall balances celebration and serenity in equal measure.

The nearby village of Baschurch has a small supermarket, two pubs and a post office—handy for stocking up or wandering down for a relaxed meal. It's a friendly, down-to-earth place with easy road links to Shrewsbury and Wem. Head into Shrewsbury (20 minutes by car) to explore its medieval streets, independent shops and waterside walks along the River Severn. The town rewards slow exploration: cafés tucked into courtyards, the castle and grounds, regular farmers' markets, and the elegant Old Market Hall, showcasing local makers. With plenty of places to eat and drink, it makes a lovely day out during your stay.

Shropshire's landscapes unfold beautifully from the doorstep. The Shropshire Hills AONB, Ironbridge Gorge, and the Severn Valley Railway all offer different ways to experience the region's history, scenery and slower pace of life. Families often plan a day trip to Ludlow for its food scene, or spend time discovering local heritage sites and easy countryside rambles. Whether you're exploring stately homes, enjoying woodland walks, or simply embracing time together in this extraordinary house, Marton Hall is a memorable holiday rental in Shropshire for group stays. This self-catering accommodation brings together heritage, comfort and space—everything you need for a special celebration or a restorative break.
