Castle Keep Barn is a beautiful barn conversion in Pontesbury village in the Shropshire Hills. The spacious holiday rental comfortably sleeps eight people in four bedrooms with two bathrooms and a layout that works for families, extended families and friends. It's a lovely holiday home with stunning views and a history dating back to the 12th Century. The barn, which is set within the owner's grounds, is within walking distance of a busy village shop and a small supermarket, cafes, takeaways, and The Nags Head pub, where the beer garden has some of the finest views in the county and the menu changes with the seasons.
Pontesbury gives you the convenience of a village location with the benefits of having a huge designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty as your neighbour. The Shropshire Hills, Offa's Dyke, and facilities like those at Eastridge Woods make this area a paradise for walkers and mountain bikers. Fuel yourself with a rib-sticking breakfast for a ten-mile Chris Bagley circular walk from the green by the village school. Other local routes go up Earls Hill and Pontesford Hill Nature Reserves, along the Old Railway Line, and Pontsbury Brook.
The medieval market town of Shrewsbury is only seven miles from Castle Keep Barn. Shrewsbury is a fantastic place for shopping and eating, with a mix of independent businesses to tempt your wallet and your tastebuds. It's a sociable town with live music and other performances and events like the Shrewsbury Food Festival. Attractions include Shrewsbury Castle, the Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery, and the picturesque gardens at The Quarry. Sail down the River Severn, and scare the kids into good behaviour with a tour of Shrewsbury Prison. Ironbridge Gorge, the UK's first UNESCO World Heritage Site and a lasting symbol of the Industrial Revolution, is half an hour's drive from Castle Keep, Ludlow is 45 minutes away, and you can reach Birmingham in around an hour.
Castle Keep Barn is available all year round for a relaxing holiday with your family and friends. One well-behaved dog is welcome, with two possible by arrangement.

Outside: New for summer 2023 Hobbit style hut, seats 8 with a very efficient cute log burner. There's lots of board games to dispute over, a beautiful rustic table to play on. Fairy lights and LED lighting with electric hook up. Ideal for for quiet work space. Come and have a hot chocolate or something stronger with lovely cosy blankets. Sitting area with lovely view and smells of the rock garden. There's an enclosed court yard with herbs and plants with a patio barbecue area and an outdoor raised area to sit. Guests have off-road parking for two cars with more available a short distance from the cottage. There is also storage for bicycles.
Additional Information: Utilities, WiFi, bed linen, bath towels, and an initial supply of fuel for the log burner are included. One well-behaved dog is welcome, with two dogs possible by arrangement - please speak with the owner when booking. At least one guest must be at 25 or over. Smoking is not permitted.
