About 35 Welsh St

35 Welsh Street is a Grade II listed holiday cottage in the heart of Bishop's Castle, sleeping up to four guests in two bedrooms. Quietly tucked away behind its traditional stone frontage, it is full of period character and modern comforts. Step outside and you're only a few minutes' walk from independent shops, cafés, and the welcoming Three Tuns pub and heritage brewery. Home is a comfortable cottage where evenings are spent beside the open fire, breakfast is enjoyed in the sunny conservatory, and dogs can stretch their legs in the enclosed south-facing garden. Original features, including the old bread oven in the sitting room, sit comfortably alongside a well-equipped modern kitchen and recently updated bathroom, creating a welcoming place to return to after days spent exploring the Shropshire Hills.

Bishop's Castle is a market town rewarding those who enjoy wandering without an agenda. Its narrow streets are lined with independent businesses rather than chain stores, with delis, cafés, traditional pubs, galleries and small shops giving the town a friendly, lived-in feel. Whether you're picking up local produce for supper, browsing antiques or calling into one of the two breweries for a pint brewed just around the corner, everything is within easy walking distance. Walkers are particularly well catered for, with routes leading directly from the cottage onto the surrounding hills, while cyclists will find quiet country lanes stretching in every direction. After a day outdoors, there's no shortage of places to eat, from relaxed pub meals to excellent local restaurants, before wandering back through the town to your cottage.

The surrounding countryside is among the finest walking country in England. Long Mynd, the Stiperstones and Offa's Dyke all lie within easy reach, offering everything from gentle circular walks to full-day hikes with spectacular views across the Welsh borders. Ludlow makes an excellent day trip for its medieval streets, impressive castle and renowned food scene, while Clun, Wentnor and the rolling landscapes of the South Shropshire Hills provide countless opportunities to explore quieter corners of the county. Whether you're setting out with walking boots, bicycles or simply a picnic, there's always somewhere different to discover before returning to light the fire, pour a favourite drink and enjoy another peaceful evening at 35 Welsh Street.
