Fairview House is a stylish and spacious holiday home in the beautiful village of Tideswell, tucked away on a quiet lane just half a mile from the village centre. Sleeping up to 14 guests in seven bedrooms, this dog-friendly retreat is designed with group getaways in mind. It combines homely comforts with luxurious touches, including a sociable AGA kitchen, a wood-burning stove in the lounge, a pool table, and a private hot tub in the garden. Tideswell itself is one of the Peak District’s hidden gems, best known for its striking church (nicknamed the 'Cathedral of the Peak') and welcoming village atmosphere. You'll find two friendly pubs nearby, including the popular Star Inn, a café, and a handful of local shops – all just a short stroll from the front door.
Just ten miles from Fairview House lies the elegant spa town of Buxton, known for its Georgian and Victorian architecture, natural spring water, and cultural calendar. Spend an afternoon discovering the underground wonders of Poole’s Cavern or take in a show at the beautifully restored Buxton Opera House. The Pavilion Gardens, with their landscaped lawns, playground, and miniature railway, are a hit with families, while boutique shops and delis line the pretty streets around the Crescent. You’ll also find regular events and markets throughout the year, making Buxton a fantastic place to explore in every season.
Beyond the village and town, the Peak District National Park opens up with endless opportunities for adventure. Walkers and cyclists can join the nearby Monsal Trail, a traffic-free route through tunnels and across viaducts with stunning views. A little further afield are the gritstone edges and heather moorland of Stanage Edge, the heights of Mam Tor and Kinder Scout, and the show caves of Castleton. For heritage and gardens, you’re spoiled for choice – Chatsworth House, one of England’s grandest stately homes, is just over half an hour away, with Haddon Hall, Bakewell, and Eyam also nearby. Families will love Gulliver’s Kingdom in Matlock Bath, or the cable cars and cavern tours at the Heights of Abraham. After a day of exploring, there’s no better way to relax than in the private hot tub back at Fairview House, with a drink in hand and good company all around.
Whether you’re planning a special celebration, a walking holiday, or a long-overdue catch-up with friends, Fairview House puts you at the heart of one of England’s most beautiful and activity-rich regions – and gives you all the space and comfort you need to enjoy it properly.
