Callow Top Holiday Park - Perfect for families, the award winning holiday park Callow Top is home to two self-catering cottages and one holiday apartment (as well as a camping and touring site). The park is perfectly located on the Derbyshire and Staffordshire borders with easy access to the many attractions of the Peak District National Park including Ashbourne, Matlock, Buxton, Bakewell and Alton Towers Theme Park (just twenty minutes away by car).
Stay put - Offering plenty of on-site activities to keep the younger ones amused day and night, come rain or shine, Callow Top's facilities are hard to beat for those looking for a fun-filled holiday (please note: facilities are available during the months of 1st April to 30th September). If you fancy a lazy day relaxing amongst Derbyshire scenery, simply stay put and let the kids entertain themselves on-site with a play area, games field for a kick around and outdoor swimming and toddler pools. There are also indoor facilities for inclement weather including a games room with table tennis and pool, as well as a well-stocked fishing lake. The Callow Inn and restaurant which is open on Fridays, Saturdays and during the Derbyshire school holidays provides a nice place for a meal out.
Walking - As far as locations go, Callow Top is hard to beat. It provides direct access onto the Tissington Trail a thirteen mile traffic-free path for walkers and cyclists with stunning views and plenty of wildlife to see along the way. There are also plenty of other wonderful walking opportunities such as the pretty riverside walk into the heart of Dovedale where you walk through the dramatic limestone ravine crossing the river via the famous stepping-stones. The Manifold valley will also reward your efforts with some the area's most stunning views and scenery.
Local amenities - The bustling market town of Ashbourne has a twice weekly market (Thursdays and Saturdays) and offers a great selection of shops and eating establishments within its impressive architecture, as well as supermarkets, leisure centre and a golf course for those who enjoy a game. Should you prefer not to drive, you can walk to Ashbourne in twenty minutes or cycle even faster.
Out and about - Spend your days discovering the beauty of the Peak District's pretty quaint villages that have changed little over the course of time. Browse shops in vibrant market towns, wander around stately homes such as Chatsworth and Haddon hall, or have an adventure day at one of the areas family parks such as Alton Towers, Waterworld, Gullliver's Kingdom, SnowDome at Tamworth or nearby Drayton Manor Theme Park. Take a bird's eye view of the area and a cable car ride at the Heights of Abraham. There are also plenty of spectacular sights down below the surface of the Peaks, providing great rainy day activities such as Speedwell Cavern with its magical underground boat trip, and Peak Cavern with its somewhat unusual rock formations!
