About Damson Cottage

Damson Cottage is a charming rural retreat where couples and individuals can escape to the beautiful Derbyshire Dales. The one-bedroom holiday cottage is one of two welcoming self-catering properties at family-run Breach Farm, a mile from Carsington Water and just outside the village of Carsington where the Miner’s Arm’s Pub is situated, one of many places to eat locally. There are stunning walks and a great choice of cycling routes in the surrounding area along with Derbyshire’s many attractions to discover. Please see the owner's website for details.

Breach Farm is ideally located for a fantastic holiday in any season. Close to Carsington Water, where there is bike hire, an eight-mile trail around the water's edge, a playground and picnic areas. Go boating, canoeing, kayaking and windsurfing on the water, or fishing from a boat all of which can be arranged from the centre. It's a lovely spot for being active or lying back in the sunshine with a bird-watching book and your binoculars. Visitors who want a longer challenge than Carsington Water can tackle the High Peak Trail, Monsal Trail and the traffic-free route through the Manifold Valley.

Local attractions include, Haddon Hall, Pooles Cavern and Buxton Country Park, Calke Abbey, Sudbury Hall and the Museum of Childhood, and the open-air Crich Tramway Museum. Bakewell's Monday market has over 100 sellers and is always a great morning's shopping. Buxton's revitalising spa water has attracted visitors for centuries, while Ashbourne is a favourite spot for antiquing. The market town of Matlock is only around 15 minutes away, with a wide array of shops and places to eat, so you always have an option if you don't feel like cooking or you want a romantic meal out.

Get your kicks at Alton Towers, around half an hour's drive from the cottage, or walk around the highly decorative surroundings of Chatsworth House and gardens. There are indoor and outdoor attractions to suit all interests. You know that no matter what time of year you stay at Damson Cottage, you'll always be able to fill your days exactly as you please.
