Squirrel Lodge is a smartly presented holiday home in the popular Felmoor Holiday Park, where on-site amenities include 40 acres of woodland, a cafe and a games arcade. With two bedrooms and two bathrooms, it is ideal for couples or families who can't wait to enjoy everything Northumberland can offer. The lodge has a wooden deck from which you can watch the cheeky red squirrels being busy with whatever squirrels do and is 100 yards from a lake.
You can walk to the Northumberland Country Zoo, where their conservation work includes protecting the endangered snow leopard and looking after animals like arctic foxes, otters, marmosets and meerkats. Another local attraction not to miss is Alnwick Castle, which will be recognisable to fans of Downton Abbey and Harry Potter films. Day trips can include exploring the beautiful Northumberland Coast, a mere five miles from Squirrel Leap Lodge. The beaches here range from sheltered to wild, with miles of sandy shoreline and spectacular views. The Northumberland National Park is also within easy reach, with an enormous variety of places to walk, horse ride and mountain bike. There are five excellent golf clubs a short drive away for those who love the links.
The nearest village to Felmoor is Felton, two miles away with a welcoming pub, village shop, tea room and a post office. The market town of Morpeth, 10 miles or around 15-minutes away, has all of the shops and amenities you need for your self-catering holiday. There has been a regular market held in Morpeth since 1199. There's a small market every Wednesday, while if you're there on the first Saturday of the month, it's worth going to the Farmers' Market for tasty goodies grown and made locally. Morpeth is a great mix of old and new, with stylish bars and restaurants sitting easily beside centuries of history.
Felmoor Holiday Park is extremely family-friendly yet quiet enough for couples who appreciate the peaceful Northumberland countryside. Bookings are available all year round so that you can escape here for a breather. Even a short break amongst such lovely surroundings will leave you feeling rested and rejuvenated.
