Welcome to Ireby, a spacious two-bedroom cottage on our farm in the peaceful village of Tranwell, just 3 miles from the historic market town of Morpeth. Ireby Cottage offers the ideal escape to enjoy both Northumberland’s stunning coast and scenic countryside while providing a cosy base with everything you need for a comfortable stay.
Ireby Cottage is thoughtfully designed on a single level, offering easy accessibility throughout. A gently sloped path connects the parking area at the front to the patio doors at the rear, leading into spacious, open-plan rooms with level flooring. The cottage also features a purpose-built wet room with a walk-in shower.
Morpeth is a charming town brimming with local character and historic charm. Take a leisurely stroll through the sandstone arcade, browse unique craft and artisan shops, and treat yourself to a delicious meal or traditional tea in one of the town’s many welcoming cafés and restaurants. Meander along the River Wansbeck or explore Carlisle Park, where you’ll find riverside pathways leading to the old gatehouse and the castle ruins. Try river boating, tennis, or bowls, or simply relax in the Turner Garden, inspired by Morpeth-born William Turner, the "father of English botany." To get a taste of local history, visit The Chantry Bagpipe Museum or browse The Chantry Northumbrian Arts and Craft Gallery, filled with handmade treasures to remember your visit.
Newcastle is only 15 minutes to the south, which offers arts, culture, and world-class dining. Or, head to Hadrian’s Wall to explore ancient Roman forts along the rugged countryside. Discover the Cheviot Hills with a stop in charming Rothbury for afternoon tea. Explore Cragside, the first home in the world powered by hydroelectricity, or spend a magical day in Alnwick to see the iconic castle and its famed gardens. Discover Northumberland’s past with a visit to Wallington Hall or unwind at our farm, enjoying the tranquility of the countryside.
Whether you’re here to relax, explore, or experience a little of both, Ireby provides the perfect base to visit all that northumberland has to offer.
