Little Cothill Barn is a beautifully restored stone barn sleeping four guests (plus a child) in the heart of the Herefordshire borderlands. Tucked into the rolling countryside of the Golden Valley and available from September to March, or for last-minute bookings, this rural holiday let offers two stylish king-sized en suite bedrooms, a spacious open-plan living area with a toasty wood burner, and a kitchen that’s ready for anything from lazy breakfasts to full Sunday roasts. With handpicked antique furnishings, quirky handmade touches, far-reaching views across to the Black Mountains and many walks to explore from the front door, it’s a welcoming countryside escape for families and friends alike.
Set just outside the small village of Peterchurch, Little Cothill Barn is perfectly placed to explore one of the many footpaths from the front door. Just a short drive away is the world-famous book town of Hay-on-Wye which is bursting with independent shops, vintage bookstores, and artisan bakeries, with Thursday market day offering a buzzy, community vibe. Don’t miss the chance to catch a performance at The Globe or hire a canoe on the River Wye. Foodies will love the area’s local producers and welcoming pubs, many of which champion Herefordshire’s cider-making heritage and rich local flavours.
The surrounding countryside is a walker’s paradise. Try Offa’s Dyke, the Herefordshire Trail, or climb the dramatic Black Hill (known locally as the Cat’s Back) for some of the best views in the county. Castles, cider orchards, ancient churches and family-friendly attractions dot the area – including the Small Breeds Farm Park, Hampton Court Castle and the enchanting Brobury House Gardens. For more adventurous guests, there’s kayaking on the Wye, pony trekking, axe-throwing and even mountain carting all within easy reach.
Whether you’re curling up by the fire after a day on the trails or sitting out under the stars with a glass of local cider, Little Cothill Barn makes the perfect base for a relaxing rural break.
