Bronte Owl is a very comfortable cottage with space for up to six people to sleep in three bedrooms. The location close to the Wye Valley and the Forest of Dean is ideal for families and friends who love being outdoors in any season. It is also conveniently close enough to vibrant towns with easy access to amenities including a well-stocked village shop and a dog-friendly pub, The Crown Inn, a one-minute walk from the door. Everything you need for a fun-packed and relaxing holiday is right here and waiting for you.
The Forest of Dean is beautiful at any time of the year. While some visitors love its shady canopy and cooling streams in the summer, others visit in autumn purely for the spectacular sight of the leaves as they change colour and carpet the forest floor in gold and russet. Walking and cycling are two favourite ways to explore, and visitors will find routes for all abilities close to Bronte Owl. Horse riding is another popular activity, and there are several local stables happy to take visitors on a guided trek, including one a short walk from the cottage.
The magnificent River Wye flows just a few miles away from Bronte Owl and canoeing along its rapids is an exciting way to explore, while those who prefer a more sedate way to sightsee should book a ticket on the Dean Forest Railway. Other nearby attractions include the International Centre for Birds of Prey, and the ancient trees at Puzzlewood which are said to have inspired Tolkein to create Middle Earth. Of course, being so close to the border with Wales means the area is liberally scattered with castles in various states of repair, including Goodrich, Grosmont, Skenfrith and Chepstow Castle.
The cathedral cities of Gloucester and Hereford are both an easy drive from Bronte Owl, as are the pretty towns and villages in the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). The market towns of Monmouth and Hay-on-Wye are an excellent spot for a day out, while Ross-on-Wye is just four miles away and full of places to eat, drink and shop.
The owners of Bronte Owl have created a relaxing space where families and friends can enjoy spending time together, free from the stress and harried feeling of their every day lives. It is one of three lovely cottages, each of which can be booked on its own or together with another to accommodate bigger groups of up to 17 people. Please see the owner's website for more information.
