Recently converted, The Trout Barn offers contemporary and eco-friendly self-catering holiday accommodation in the small village of Hermitage just ten miles from Yeovil in Somerset. With no close neighbours, it is a secluded peaceful spot and a haven for wildlife. Sleeping up to eight guests, and with accommodation all on one level, The Trout Barn is perfect for family gatherings, groups of friends or even a quiet romantic break.
The large open plan kitchen, dining and living area provides the ideal space for socialising at the start and end of each day, whilst the three comfortable ensuite bedrooms provide plenty of options to cater for various sleeping arrangements. The kids will love sleepovers in the twin and bunk bedroom, and there is also an additional wheelchair accessible shower in the cloakroom. Keen anglers can enjoy fishing in the trout and carp lakes (by prior booking), whilst the enclosed garden is a lovely spot to sit back and enjoy the peace and quiet.
Whilst The Trout Barn is situated in quiet rural area on the border of the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, it’s central location means there are plenty of attractions nearby to keep everyone entertained. A gentle one-mile stroll to the local pub at Middlemarsh is a pleasant way to while away the day (it’s three miles by car) or explore the villages of Chetnole and Cerne Abbas, about five miles away. There is a pub in Chetnole and three in Cerne Abbas, all serving good food. Just outside Cerne Abbas you will also find the stunning country house and Himalayan gardens at Minterne Estate.
For those who want to stretch their legs, the surrounding area is perfect walking and cycling territory. Alternatively, head to the Jurassic Coast for your fill of salty sea air and lazy days on the beach. The spectacular Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door are less than an hours drive away, or visit the popular coastal resorts of Lyme Regis or Weymouth. The Abbey town of Sherborne (7 miles), County Town of Dorchester (12 miles) with its dinosaur museum and Hardy's monument and Wareham Forest (23 miles) are also closeby.
There is so much to do in this pretty part of the country, yet you would also be forgiven for simply enjoying some time out surrounded by nature and wildlife. Peaceful year round, The Trout Barn offers the chance to relax and recharge at any time of the year.
