Property and location. Toadsmoor House sleeps up to 21 in seven bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. A grand Victorian residence in the wooded Toadsmoor Valley just outside Stroud, it has been newly refurbished over four floors of tall, light-filled rooms, with sash windows and period features set against a calm, understated interior. There are three living spaces, a dining table seating the whole party, and secluded gardens with a wood-fired hybrid hot tub, fire pit, gas BBQ and pizza oven. It suits hen weekends, milestone birthdays, family gatherings, reunions and retreats, and celebrations are welcome by arrangement, with private chefs and catering available on request.
Local area. The house sits at the mouth of its valley in Brimscombe, on the quieter, more wooded side of the Cotswolds. The Ship Inn is a short stroll away, the Stroud Brewery taproom is in the village itself, and the two AA rosette Burleigh, on the hillside above, is a lovely choice for a celebration dinner. Walks start from the front door, climbing the valley past mill ponds and beech woods, and Stroud, with its celebrated Saturday farmers' market, is ten minutes by car.
Further afield. Westonbirt Arboretum, Painswick and its Rococo Garden, Cirencester, Gloucester, Cheltenham and Bath are all within 30 to 45 minutes. Without a car, Stroud station is a six minute taxi ride away, with direct trains to London Paddington in around 1 hour 27.
