Sitting alone at the head of the courtyard, The Granary is a four bedroom cottage sleeping eight people. Previously a working granary and grain store on the farm at Troedyrhiw, The Granary Cottage is enjoying its retirement, however the agricultural rake hanging on the wall in the lounge, and the mill wheel outside the cottage (along with the one outside The Stables) were found on the land during renovations and are a reminder of days gone by.
No longer hard at work on the farm, The Granary has been tastefully refurbished to provide five star accommodation for eight people in two double rooms, one upstairs and one downstairs, along with four single beds in two rooms which are upstairs. With two bathrooms (both upstairs), one of which is ensuite and one communal, The Granary can accommodate eight people with ease.
Through the front door, which is accessed via two stone steps from a parking space right outside, you enter a spacious tiled hallway, which is home to an old writing desk that has been in our family for decades! From this hallway you will find the lounge, double bedroom and kitchen. The good sized kitchen is home to a large dining table, which comfortably seats eight people, is well equipped with both a fridge and separate freezer, dishwasher, Coffee machine and grinder, microwave, toaster and kettle, and an AEG oven and induction hob.
Double patio doors from the kitchen lead out onto a patio area and a green space (please note that the green space is not enclosed and not for the exclusive use of the Granary guests) where the children can play safely, as well as a small park area adjacent to the rear of the cottage so the kids can let off steam while the grown ups relax. There are barbecues available to borrow in the laundry room to make the most of the warmer evenings outside on the patio.
Back inside the cottage, the downstairs double bedroom is accessed from the entrance hall. This bedroom is compact, but with a walk in wardrobe and drawers is plenty big enough to not feel cramped, and is a light and comfortable room. The final door from the hallway takes you to the large lounge, with three substantial sofas, arranged around the Samsung Smart TV and cosy woodburner. With windows to both the front and back of the cottage, this room is lovely and bright, and a really warm cosy space for colder evenings, or to warm up after a dip in the sea, or a bracing walk on the mountains or through the woods.
Up the stairs that lead out of the lounge, you will find the newly refurbished, with Roper Rhodes rainwater shower over the bath, LED mirror and heated towel rail communal bathroom right in front of you. Also upstairs, is a bedroom consisting of three single beds, with drawers and built in wardrobe, and also a single room with one bed and a hanging rail. Along the corridor sits the spacious master bedroom, with built in wardrobe, and ensuite bathroom which has been refurbished to a high standard, with Matki shower enclosure and Roper Rhodes shower system.
The Granary is a great space for a large or extended family, or a group of friends, with enough space for socialising without getting under each others feet, and the exposed stonework and original beams give a lovely feel of the age of the property and the stories it could tell.

In our little corner of Ceredigion, and just a stones throw from Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire, you’ll find some of the finest landscapes in Wales. Local towns and villages such as Cardigan, Newcastle Emlyn and Aberaeron are well known for their links to medieval Wales centuries ago and remain very much unspoilt, retaining their essence of Welshness.
Whilst you are here, you can spend relaxing days visiting the abbey at St Dogmaels, The Welsh Wildlife Centre at Cilgerran, Cenarth Falls, stunning blue flag and dog friendly beaches with coast walks which you may even share with seals and dolphins as companions, breathtaking mountain walks in the Preselis, home of the bluestones used to create Stonehenge (just HOW did they get them there?!), market towns boasting eclectic and unique shops, and many more attractions, depending on your interests.
Troedyrhiw itself lies at the very bottom of Ceredigion, close to the edge of the Pembrokeshire National Park, and the Ceredigion Heritage Coast. We are only 4 miles from Cardigan, famed for the fact that the newly restored Castle and house in the town was the site of the very first Welsh Eisteddfod (cultural festival) in 1176. Nearby, the River Teifi flows through the centre of the ancient port town of Cardigan, creating a very picturesque scene, with a few eating establishments making the most of the riverside views.
Should you decide to holiday in one of our holiday cottages you will find plenty of places to visit and sites to enjoy in these market towns or quiet villages and hamlets.
