About Hafod Cottage

Hafod Cottage is a luxurious holiday home in the peaceful Ceredigion village of Llanfarian, only three miles from the historic seaside resort and university town of Aberystwyth with gorgeous walks and bike rides from the door. The layout works well for families or couples, sleeping four people in two bedrooms with the potential to sleep a fifth on a comfortable sofa bed in the private snug. Beautifully finished to a high standard throughout and boasting a tranquil setting with a hot tub, it's a beautiful place to relax and unwind in any season.

Llanfarian is on the bank of the Afon Ystwyth with rolling views of the Ceredigion countryside. From the cottage, you can access the Ystwyth Cycle Trail, which follows the course of the river, to walk or cycle into Aberystwyth's harbour and town centre. Aberystwyth was a favourite holiday destination of fashionable Victorians whose legacy is evident in the beautiful pier and promenade and the elegant buildings facing the seafront. Shops, cafes, bars and restaurants provide everything you need for a self-catering stay with the option for dining out if you don't want to cook. Don't miss a trip to the Victorian Cliff Railway, which conveys passengers from the seafront to Constitution Hill, Aberystwyth's Camera Obscura, and breathtaking views across Cardigan Bay. The National Library of Wales is a repository of Welsh history and culture, with permanent exhibitions and changing displays throughout the year.

Day trips can include visiting one of Aberwstyth's Blue Flag beaches for sunshine, swimming and surfing. Take a scenic ride on the Vale of Rheidol heritage steam railway through the Cambrian Mountains and the famous Devil's Bridge Falls. Walk for miles along the Wales Coast Path or around the Ynyslas National Nature Reserve, and go to the RSPB Dyfi Osprey Project in Ynys-Hir. Cycle south to Tregaron, spend a fascinating few hours at the Silver Mountain Experience lead mines or go to the beach at Borth to see the prehistoric Petrified Forest uncovered by a storm in 2019.

The owner has two other holiday homes close to Hafod Cottage, each finished and furnished to the same high standard. Depending on availability, they can be booked together for extended families or friends who want to holiday together without sacrificing their space or privacy. Please see the owner's website for details.
