Y Bwthyn is a wonderful country retreat for couples and families, including those with dogs, in the gorgeous Carmarthenshire countryside. Every facet of this self-catering cottage has been designed for guests' comfort, encouraging them to relax and unwind in the quiet surroundings so far removed from the noisy and often frenetic pace of daily life. There is a private garden with patio seating and a hot tub (great for stargazing in skies free from light pollution), beautifully proportioned rooms and high-quality furnishings. The cottage is less than half a mile from the Tafarn Yr Oen (Lamb Inn) in Blaenwaun and close to the Afon Sien (Sien River). The layout is perfect for couples, families, and friends, with one well-behaved dog also welcome.
The cottage is on the owner's smallholding, where they grow fruit and vegetables. It's delightfully tranquil yet is only 15 miles from the county town of Carmarthen, where there is a wide variety of places to shop and eat. It's also only a few miles from the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and 15 miles from Cardigan Bay, opening up miles of breathtaking coastline and stunning sandy beaches for your enjoyment. Start your stay with a stroll to nearby woodland and the neolithic Gwal y Filiast chambered tomb. Green-fingered guests will appreciate being close to the beautiful gardens at Llwyngarreg, Aberglasney, Colby Woodland, Picton Castle, and the National Botanic Gardens of Wales. Other local attractions include Carew Castle, Cardigan Castle, and Laugharne Castle.
Further afield, take day trips to Tenby (40 minutes), Folly Farm (40 minutes), Swansea (one hour), the west Brecon Beacons (one hour), St David's (one hour), and waterfall country (1 hour 30 minutes). There is no shortage of places to explore and enjoy, no matter what season you visit or what the weather is doing.
The owners of Y Bwythn have worked hard to create an atmosphere where you can retreat and allow the beauty and calm of your surroundings to leave you feeling restored and revived. They can arrange for a delivery of fresh local produce and specially compiled hampers to help you plan your self-catering. Hampers include jams made from the fruit on the smallholding, freshly baked bread and homemade cakes straight from the farmhouse. The combination of delicious food, gorgeous surroundings, and activities and attractions to suit all interests is sheer bliss.
