About Shoemakers Cottage

Shoemakers Cottage sleeps up to four guests with self-catering accommodation that is spread out across four floors. Dating back to the 17th Century, this welcoming cottage is perfectly placed for exploring the beautiful county of Buckinghamshire and this central part of England.

Whether you are visiting family or friends (Buckingham University is within easy reach), away on business or simply want to get away for a few nights to recharge, Shoemakers Cottage provides all the right ingredients for a relaxing break.

Sandwiched between the county town of Aylesbury and Buckingham (which once used to be the county town), the cottage sits in the ancient market town of Winslow with a good range of amenities on the doorstep.

Getaway and enjoy peace and tranquillity with glorious countryside for outdoor pursuits and plenty of attractions for day trips out. Central London is within easy reach and less than sixty miles away; Oxford's 'Dreaming Spires' are closer still and less than thirty miles and Milton Keynes with its Snow Dome is less than twenty miles.

Other popular attractions close by include: Buckingham Old Gaol; Buckingham Railway Centre at Quainton; Silverstone Race Circuit; Aylesbury with its Waterside Theatre and Museum; Bicester Designer Village for those who enjoy shopping; Tiggywinkles Wildlife Hospital and Visitor Centre; and Stoke Mandeville Stadium.

Slightly further afield but still within easy reach and less than an hour are: The Harry Potter Warner Brothers Studio at Leavesden; Glebe Canal Cruises; Tring Resevoirs and also its Natural History Museum; Chiltern Open Air Museum; Bekonscot Model Village; Blenheim Palace (the birthplace of Winston Churchill); Warwick's magnificent castle; Althorp Stately Home (residence of the Spencer Family); Castle Ashby and Woburn Abbey.

Packed full of character with lots of beams, perfectly complemented by modern conveniences, Shoemakers is a comfy retreat and available all year round for renting.

Accommodation comprises:

  • The lower floor is the perfect place for younger party members to play with a television area.
  • Ground floor with cosy sitting room heavily endowed with beams on the ceiling, comfy seating, flat screen television, fireplace with electric burner effect stove and stairs. The well equipped kitchen is also on this level with fridge, dishwasher, washing machine and microwave.
  • Double bedroom on the first floor along with the family bathroom with shower over the bath, WC and wash basin.
  • Top floor with twin bedroom in the eaves.

Additional information: Three night short breaks welcome. Saturday is the normal changeover day but the owner will try to be flexible where possible. No smoking. Pets may be accepted by arrangement. Bed linen, towels and a welcome pack are provided upon arrival. Complimentary unlimited WiFi internet access available for guests. Central heating is included in the price along with electricity. Travel cot and high chair are available by prior arrangement. There is no garden but plenty of countryside all around for picnics and walking. Parking available outside the cottage on the road.
