About The Old Coach House

The Old Coach House is a welcoming holiday home on the edge of Holt and within walking distance of a well-stocked village shop, two friendly pubs serving excellent food (The Tollgate Inn and the Old Ham Tree) and The Courts Gardens (National Trust). There are stunning walks from the doorstep to make this the perfect place for a country escape in any season. With three bedrooms to sleep up to seven people, one of them ensuite, and spacious living areas, The Old Coach House is ideal for families and friends who want to feel relaxed and comfortable. Whilst it does not have a ground floor bedroom/bathroom, it does have a stair lift for those who prefer to not climb stairs.

Holt is a fantastic base from which to explore. Start in Lacock, the historic village cared for by the National Trust. Fans of the Harry Potter films will feel right at home in Lacock Abbey which was used to film scenes at Hogwarts.

Day trips can include shopping and sightseeing in Bath, only 10 miles from The Old Coach House, full of fantastic shops, cafes, and restaurants as well as spectacular sights like the Roman Baths, Bath Abbey, Royal Crescent, and Pulteney Bridge. As with Lacock, Bath is a favourite filming location for period dramas, most recently the hit series "Bridgerton". However, you don't have to be a fan of the show to appreciate the beauty of its buildings, its landmarks, and its shops and other amenities. Further afield are Stonehenge (20 miles) and the vibrant city of Bristol (30 miles). Longleat and Shearwater Lake are two more options.

Walking around Holt is a pleasure. Walk to Broughton Gifford, past Great Chalfield. Walk through the village to the Courts. Cycling is another favourite pastime whether alongside the Kennet Avon Canal, or other cycling routes like the Wiltshire Cycleway.

Supermarkets and other amenities can be found nearby in Bradford-Upon-Avon and Melksham. You can arrange for your groceries to be delivered to the cottage after your arrival for added ease.
