About Duck's Cottage

Duck's Cottage is on a working arable farm in Wiltshire, within the Vale of Pewsey and the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Once a stable block to the 17th Century Charlton Manor house, the property is now a spacious and comfortable holiday cottage with three bedrooms, three bathrooms and a layout that suits families with older children (aged 10 and over welcome) and friends. Duck's Cottage is on the edge of the peaceful village of Charlton St Peter, a short stroll from the River Avon and within easy reach of Pewsey. The owners of Charlton Manor have farmed their land for five generations and know the region better than anyone. They are keen to ensure their guests enjoy every minute of their stay and are nearby if you have any questions about the cottage or the location.

Charlton St Peter is incredibly peaceful. Though only four miles from Pewsey, it is off the beaten track with very little passing traffic to disturb the sense of calm and tranquillity. It's perfect for walkers who love the wealth of footpaths leading from and around the village, including routes to Huish Hill and Martinsell Hill. Golf, cycling, and boating on the Kennet and Avon Canal are also easily accessible, as are country sports like fishing, seasonal game shooting, and clay pigeon shooting.

Day trips can include visiting Stonehenge and the stone circles at Avebury. Go shopping and have lunch in Marlborough, or visit Bath, Winchester or Salisbury. Swindon has STEAM - Museum of the Great Western Railway and a McArthur Glen Designer Outlet for those who love a stylish bargain. Hire a bike, book a spot at a local cookery school, or arrange for a local guide to show you some of Wiltshire's best views and hidden beauty spots.

A holiday at Duck's Cottage can be as active or as relaxed as you want it to be. It's easy to mix days walking or cycling under big skies with the bustle of towns and cities, throwing in a few famous landmarks for good measure. Bookings are available all year round. Please see the owner's website for more details.
