If you love being by water, wildlife and tranquillity then Seagull Cottage is for you. Tucked away along a bumpy unmade track, the cottage sits in an enviable position at Pagham RSPB Nature Reserve and provides quirky accommodation that is part of a railway carriage development.
Beautifully converted, Seagull Cottage overlooks the Harbour and Lagoon and is just a short stroll from the shingle beach (accessed via the rear garden gate). With a hot tub where you can relax and soak up the magic of this haven for wildlife, Seagull Cottage is a popular choice with families, friends and also couples looking to unwind and recharge.
A wonderfully unspoilt part of the West Sussex coastline, and one of the country's sunniest spots, there are fabulous walks straight from the cottage door. Stroll through the nature reserve with an abundance of birdlife and many rare species for the keen bird watcher to spot. Try crabbing, fishing, sailing, kayaking, windsurfing, swimming and paddle boarding at Pagham beach, a popular haunt amongst surfers with a sailing club and slip way. Afterwards when you have worked up an appetite, head to Pagham Beach Cafe at the end of the track (a third of a mile) for refuelling. Here you will find an amusement arcade, shops and also take-aways for those who like Chinese, Indian and fish and chips (what better place to enjoy them than by the sea!). The immediate area also offers golf, opportunities for those keen on photography and cycling.
For meals out Pagham is lucky enough to have four good pubs (The Bear Inn, The Lion, The Lamb Inn and The Inglenook). Alternatively, head to the Crab and Lobster slightly inland at Pagham Harbour; Bognor Regis (under five miles) with a good choice of shops and eateries; or Chichester with its buzzing harbour (six miles - a regular bus service runs from Pagham to both Bognor Regis and Chichester).
For those who enjoy a day at the races, Goodwood is within easy reach, as is the lovely golden beach of West Wittering, Chichester Harbour AONB and the South Downs National Park.
Whether you want to simply relax in the peace and tranquillity that surrounds, or get out and about exploring Sussex, Seagull Cottage provides a warm welcome all year round. And the hot tub is a very welcome addition!
