About Capel Ucha

Capel Ucha is a beautiful stone period cottage in a stunning location. With two double bedrooms, the property is ideal for friends or couples who appreciate the extra space. Snuggled between the coast and the mountains of North Wales and within walking distance of the welcoming Pen B Bryn pub , there's nowhere better to escape the rat race even if only for a short while.

Llanfairfechan is a gorgeous coastal town overlooking the Menai Strait towards Anglesey. It is a small but friendly resort popularised by the Victorians who left their legacy in the lovely promenade and elegant townhouses that overlook the seafront. The Blue Flag Beach is a mix of sand and shingle and is popular for sunbathing and swimming. In addition to four local pubs, Llanfairfechan has a village shop, compact supermarket, family-run butcher, craft/gift shop and a choice of take-aways (fish and chip shop, Chinese and Indian) for when you want to stay in but have a night off cooking. It is a welcoming community with a stunning landscape on the doorstep.

Staying at Capel Ucha gives visitors immediate access to some of the best walks and cycling routes along the North Wales Coast and in the Snowdonia National Park, including trails leading to Snowdon's peak. Less challenging are the paths around the nearby Nant y Coed Nature Reserve, or follow the North Wales Path to the ancient druid circles that sit above the town. Three other long-distance footpaths pass through Llanfairfechan to give visitors a wide choice of walks. These are the Snowdonia Way, the Pilgrim's Way and the Wales Coastal Path. No matter what your ability or the weather, there is a suitable trail that you'll love.

Golf is both popular with locals and visitors, who have access to a 9-hole course in town and seven other golf clubs within a 30-minute drive of the cottage. Beach fishing and coarse fishing are also favourite pastimes, and there is good access for sailing, windsurfing, kayaking and paddle-boarding.

Spend a day exploring nearby Conwy and Conwy Castle, or drive over the Menai Bridge to Anglesey for some sightseeing there. Local attractions include Zip World in the Penrhyn Quarry, Surf Snowdonia Wave Pool, Aber Falls, and the Great Orme Tramway, while Llandudno is a good choice for a day out as are the National Trust houses and gardens of the area. Put aside a day to scale Snowdon either on foot or in the Victorian train that has carried visitors to the summit for more than a century. It's also possible to mountain bike to the peak of the mountain at certain times.

Capel Ucha is peaceful without feeling remote, with views over fields to the Menai Straits.

Accommodation Comprises:

Capel Ucha is a 19th Century cottage given a modern update without losing its original charm. Accommodation is over two levels with the living space upstairs and the bedrooms on the ground floor.

Downstairs:

  • Enter through a painted front door into a welcoming hallway where there is an oak staircase and practical tiled floors.
  • Both bedrooms are doubles with proper storage so that guests can unpack and feel settled. The bigger bedroom has space for a travel cot which the owners can provide if necessary.
  • Tiled shower room with a walk-in shower, WC and a handbasin.

Upstairs:

  • An open-plan layout, multi-aspect windows and skylights make the upstairs living space feel wonderfully light and welcoming, even on a dreary winter's day.
  • Living area with a Chesterfield couch and matching armchair, a TV with a DVD player and a choice of books and family-friendly games. There is no WiFi at the cottage so it is perfect for unplugging and enjoying screen-free time.
  • Fitted kitchen well-equipped with appliances, utensils, plates and glasses for up to four people. There is a dishwasher in the kitchen and a washing machine in a separate utility room.

Outside: The cottage has a walled garden with beautiful views north over the Menai Straits. There is a table and chairs for outdoor meals, a clothesline, and lots of space to run and play.

Additional Information: All utilities, sheets and bath towels are provided. Short breaks (minimum of three nights) are possible depending on availability. Smoking not permitted. Dogs may be accepted upon request subject to house rules.
