The Stable is a characterful and comfortable holiday cottage in mid-Wales. Tucked away on the edge of Adfa village, a few miles between Welshpool and Newtown, the 18th-Century farm building is now a spacious self-catering cottage with original oak beams, stone walls, and golden oak flooring that makes the house feel warm and welcoming even in winter. The Stable sleeps four people in two bedrooms and is perfect for couples or families. It's dog-friendly, with an enclosed garden, stunning views over rolling fields, and fantastic walks from the door. It's one of two superb holiday cottages on the family-run Llwyn Coppa Farm, where the owners breed sheep.
Adfa is a small but friendly farming village with a petrol station, shop, church, and village hall. Its main attraction is the surrounding countryside, directly accessible from Llwyn Coppa, with miles of footpaths and bridleways to explore. Start your morning with breakfast on the patio, enjoying panoramic views of the Kerry Ridgeway where a 15-mile dual-purpose path takes walkers and mountain bikers along an ancient drover's route between Kerry and Bishop's Castle. Closer to the farm is the Three Lakes challenge that encompasses Llyn Mawr, Llyn Du and Llyn Tarw. You can walk the two miles to Tregaron, and walk or cycle the eight miles to Newtown or Welshpool. The local landscape is a mix of fields, moors, pastures and woodland, and is spectacular in all seasons.
There's plenty to do during your stay at The Stable. Golfers have a choice of three courses within a 15-minute drive (Welshpool, Lakeside, and St Giles), while history and art buffs can visit the Newtown Textile Museum, Llanidloes Museum, and the Andrew Logan Museum of Sculpture. There are castles, country halls and houses, beautiful gardens, nature reserves for birdwatching, and lakes for paddle boarding and fishing. Southern Snowdonia and the Cambrian Mountains are only 20 miles away, providing more opportunities for walking, mountain biking, and sightseeing, and the stunning Elan Village is also within easy reach.
Newtown, Welshpool and Llanidloes are nearby with shops, cafes, markets, pubs and other amenities useful for a self-catering holiday.
The Stables is one of two two-bedroom cottages at Llwyn Coppa Farm, each sleeping four people. They are separate and self-contained but can, depending on availability, be booked together to accommodate two families.
