Hendre Farmhouse is a comfortable self-catering holiday home, just north of the Brecon Beacons National Park, within easy reach of Builth Wells. It is a spacious traditional Welsh farmhouse, sleeping up to 11 people in five bedrooms with beautiful gardens and gorgeous walks from the door. You'll lose hours staring at the view from the house and the grounds. The sight of the mist rising from the river is worth an early morning walk. The lack of light pollution make stargazing an unforgettable experience.
This outstandingly beautiful area blends the beauty of rural seclusion with the convenience of being only three miles from the amenities of Builth Wells. You can walk from the Farmhouse to the charming historical church of St Davids Llanynis, on the banks of the River Irfon, a tributary of the River Wye. Interested guests can arrange fishing with the owners for grayling, trout and the occasional late-summer salmon. On hot summer days, deep cool salmon pools make a tempting spot for wild swimming.
Builth Wells is ideally located for outdoor and adventure activities. As well as hiking, you can go mountain biking and kayak on the River Wye. The Black Mountains and the Brecon Beacons have trails to suit every ability, whether you traverse them on foot, horseback, road bike or mountain bike. Opportunities for climbing, caving and golf are also readily available. The Irfon Valley is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest due to its rare flora and fauna, so take your binoculars if you have them. Bird watchers should undoubtedly see the red kites at the feeding centre near Rhayader - it's an unforgettable experience.
Day trips can include touring the Elan Valley or the Brecon Beacons, browsing the bookshops at Hay-on-Wye, or discovering the delights of Abergaenny's market, medieval church, and wealth of cafes. Builth Wells is home to the Royal Welsh Showground, where the summer show is the highlight of a packed calendar of events. Whether you head north, south, east or west, you'll be greeted by beautiful views.
