Near the outdoor swimming pool in Matlock Bath, you are ideally located next to the Derwent River in the World Heritage Site with wonderful walks and cycling from the doorstep. Cafes, pubs, local shops and the tourist attractions of Chatsworth House, The Heights of Abraham and Gullivers are nearby. If you’re looking for a stylish and spacious holiday home in a great location with lots of things to do together then this is the place for you.
Contemporary features are beautifully blended with Victorian style and topped with an extra generous layer of luxury to provide an exceptionally high standard of accommodation throughout. There are lots of bedrooms (including one with en-suite on the ground floor), most are en-suite, a terrace for pre-dinner drinks, games/bar room for post-supper entertainment, a dining room perfect for celebratory meals and plenty of space in the sitting room for everyone to relax. Whether you self-cater or choose a local chef to serve you (please speak to the owner for details), catering is a breeze at Portland House with its big well-equipped kitchen and BBQs in the walled garden.
The location of Portland House is every bit as special as the property itself. Sitting on the edge of Matlock Bath, one of the most beautiful tourist towns in Derbyshire, this fantastic party house is just a short walk away from great eateries, shops and attractions. The town is full of pretty boutiques and cafes, welcoming pubs, restaurants for local dining and friendly shops selling locally produced gifts and goods.
Matlock Bath sits in the Derwent Valley World Heritage Site on the edge of the Peak District National Park with a wealth of attractions to fill the days full of fun for the whole party. The Heights of Abraham offers spectacular views not only from the cable car and the park but also underground where there is a beautiful system of show caves. Gulliver’s Kingdom is a favourite with children, as is the Matlock Bath Aquarium. There are some beautiful walks in and around town, including through Lea Gardens and along Lover’s Walk. Alternatively, jump on your bike and cycle around Matlock’s moors and hills or fish or row a boat on the Derwent River.
Go vintage at Crich Tramway Village is an excellent family-friendly attraction, or visit magnificent Chatsworth House, Bakewell, Buxton and Eyam to name just a few of this areas many attractions.
With so many people to please, it is essential that you choose a holiday home where you can just relax and enjoy being together without having to worry about where everyone will sleep or having to have separate meal times because there is not enough room at the table. The owners of Portland House have taken great care to create a place that is welcoming and well designed for group get togethers, letting you make the most of your time away.

Accommodation is split over three floors with the living area, dining room, bar room and accessible en-suite bedroom on the ground floor, and other ensuite bedrooms on the first and second floors. The owners have carefully selected the finest furnishings made locally which are stylish and comfortable for modern guests.

Outside: The house has a beautiful Portland stone façade with steps leading down to a large flat lawn, walled garden and decorative fountain. The paved terrace has garden furniture seating everyone together and two built-in barbecues. There is private off-street parking for ten cars and unrestricted parking.
Additional Information: Included are: utilities, bed linens and towels, and WiFi, and the house has computer operated central heating and hot water system ensuring everyone can shower at the same time. Short breaks are available. Smoking and pets are not permitted. It is also possible to arrange early arrival and late departure if required (please speak to the owner).
