About Morridge View

Morridge View is a luxury self-catering holiday cottage in the Peak District National Park. The former shippon, or cow barn, in Onecote, is now a beautiful home-away-from-home, where up to ten guests enjoy verified 4-Star Gold standard group accommodation. It's perfect for big families, extended families or friends, with three of the five bedrooms having an ensuite shower room. One suite is on the ground floor and accessible for guests who use a wheelchair. The fantastic accommodation is matched by the breathtaking views across the farmland to Morridge, whose 1,500ft peak offers a spectacular panorama over the Peak District.

As with many villages in rural Britain, Onecote isn't pronounced phonetically, so don't worry if you hear people talking about "On-cut". Lane Head Farm has been part of the scenery since the 17th Century and is one of the oldest farms in the area. A visit during lambing season in late spring is a delight as surrounding fields will be full of ewes and young lambs. The location is ideal for walking and cycling around the Manifold Valley, Hartington and surrounding countryside. Some of the most famous sights in the Peak District are accessible via a short drive from the village, including The Roaches, Ramshaw Rocks, and Tittesworth. You're also within reach of the Manifold and Dovedale Valleys, Bakewell and the Monsal Trail.

Historic Leek is four miles from the cottage. This region led the way in fabric weaving and dying in the 18th and 19th Centuries, with Leek's mills producing high-quality silks. Today, it is a busy town with businesses centred around the historic market square and Victorian Butter Market. Independent shops sell a wide choice of local food, from essentials to delicious treats, and there are cafes, restaurants and pubs for dining out.

Rudyard Lake, Peak Wildlife Park and Tittesworth Water are just three local attractions to add to your itinerary. Chatsworth House is a must-see for anyone who appreciates art, architecture or landscaping. Contrast a day of Chatsworth's splendour with the thrill of Alton Tower's rides, a ramble through the countryside, and a day's shopping in Leek or Buxton, and you've got a holiday with something for everyone.

Guests of Morridge View rave about the quality of the accommodation and the layout, which encourages socialising and allows for space and privacy when you need it. The location is perfect for favourite Peak District attractions and sights, and the views from the house and garden are a highlight.
