About Hopton Cottage

Hopton Cottage is in the pretty Peak District village of Youlgreave, within walking distance of the village shop, a bakery, and three pubs that all serve food. Dating back 250 years, it's a welcoming stone holiday cottage where families and friends can stay in comfort while exploring the Derbyshire Dales. There are three bedrooms sleeping five people, plus a smaller room with a folding bed to accommodate an extra child. The views from the house will undoubtedly whet your appetite for exploration, which is perfect, as there are beautiful footpaths and cycling routes from the garden gate.

Youlgreave is no twee tourist town, but a thriving village with a welcoming community that takes part in the annual Well Dressing, a festival unique to the Peak District. Hikers have high regard for this area for the beautiful scenery and easy access to footpaths like the Limestone Way that passes through the village. The River Bradford flows through the dale towards Alport, with other favourite local walking routes going through Bradford Dale and Lathkill Dale. Dove Dale and Monsal Dale are within easy reach by car, and there's also a wide choice of cycling routes with bike hire readily available.

Bakewell is only four miles from Hopton Cottage. It's famous for its pudding, chocolate-box buildings, and busy Monday market where over 100 sellers set out their wares. Matlock is eight miles or around a 20-minute drive from your holiday home, while Matlock Bath is just a few minutes further. Local attractions include the magnificent Chatsworth House, Poole's Cavern and Buxton Country Park, Mam Tor, Gulliver's Kingdom, and the Heights of Abraham. Family-favourite Alton Towers is just over half an hour away and easy to get to for a fun day out.

Hopton Cottage is wonderfully quiet yet conveniently central to attractions and amenities. It's available for holiday bookings all year round. Short breaks possible outside of peak season so, even if you only have a few days, you can still enjoy the beauty of the Peak District.
