Hilldale Cottage feels simultaneously modern and timeless. From the outside, it's a typical Peak District stone cottage. However, a recent sympathetic refurbishment has seen the 17th Century holiday cottage interior transformed into a stylish and contemporary home with space for five people to sleep in three bedrooms and a layout that suits families, friends, or couples who enjoy a lot of space. Hilldale is in the quiet Peak District village of Earl Sterndale, within an easy 15-minute walk to the Pack Horse pub in Crowdecote and an hour's walk from the Church Inn. It has fantastic year-round views of the Chrome, Parkhouse and High Wheeldon, and is perfect for stepping off the treadmill of modern life to catch your breath.
Earl Sterndale may be quiet, but it's within easy reach of everywhere you want to go. It's only 1.5 miles from Crowdecote village and the friendly Pack Horse Inn, known for its delicious food and beer menu. Buxton is 10 minutes away with a great choice of shops, cafes and restaurants. Wander around up to Higher Buxton or down Cavendish Arcade for independent boutiques and homewares, or head to Springs Shopping Centre for High Street stores. You'll always find something quirky and unique when you browse the market at The Arches. Buxton's legacy as a fashionable Georgian and Victorian spa town is evident in its elegant buildings, like the impressive Buxton Opera House and Buxton's lovely formal parks and gardens.
The pretty village of Hartington is also only 10 minutes away. Fantastic footpaths lead from the village to the wider Dovedale Valley. Bakewell, a lovely town with a lively Monday market, is around a 15-minute drive from the cottage. Other attractions within half an hour's drive include Chatsworth House and Estate, Haddon Hall, Alton Towers, Pooles Cavern, and the Heights of Abraham.
Walking and cycling are two of the most enjoyable things you can do in the Peak District. Hilldale Cottage is convenient for many favourite routes, including the Monsal Trail and Tissington Trail, both of which are dual-purpose and suitable for cyclists or walkers. There are wonderful routes accessible from the door, with other fantastic routes through the Dovedale Valley, Goyt Valley, Manifold Valley, Beresford Dale, and Lathkill.

Hilldale Cottage has been carefully renovated to retain its period character while providing all of the 21st Century luxuries. Accommodation is over two levels.

Outside: You'll love sitting outdoors until long after the sun has set, first admiring the beautiful views and later gazing at the brilliant night skies. There is a charcoal barbecue, a summer house with seating for five, and a picnic bench. The cottage also has secure bike storage and off-street parking.
Additional Information: Utilities, WiFi, bed linen, bath towels, and an initial basket of logs are provided. Guests to supply charcoal and firefighters for the barbecue if required. A cot (no bedding) and a highchair are available on request. Pets and smoking are not permitted.
