About Hawthorn Cottage
A delightful country cottage with beamed ceilings, polished wood and slate floors, and original Derbyshire stone fireplace with log burner. Sleeping 6 people in 3 comfortable bedrooms, and a well equipped bathroom with large shower bath. Set within a small village, with a good pub, a bike hire centre at the edge of the village, and Callow Hall's lovely restaurant, plus close to Ashbourne with its many facilities. There is a lovely south facing lawned garden with flower beds, three patios with garden furniture , garden w.c. and views of the hillside where sheep and lambs meander. Ample private and gated parking is provided beside the cottage, and cycle storage can be provided by request. Guest wifi.
The property is surrounded by lovely countryside, and there are many walks from the doorstep including a stroll along the River Dove to Dovedale, or you can walk or cycle to the pretty estate village of Tissington along the nearby Tissington trail. The lovely Georgian market town of Ashbourne is only 1.5 miles from the village and has a variety of good cafes, restaurants and pubs, plus independent shops, supermarkets, a leisure centre, park, and cinema. A short drive takes you to Carsington reservoir where you can sample a range of watersports, walk or cycle the perimeter of the lake or simply sit in the cafe and admire the views.
The Peak District has a wealth of lovely walks, cycle trails, pretty villages and attractions. Visit Pooles cavern or the Blue John mines, Steam railways, Beaver hall equestrian centre, Chatsworth, Tissington or Haddon hall houses and gardens, and the National Trust properties of Kedleston, Sudbury Hall and Calke Abbey. Within a short drive you can enjoy the rides at Alton Towers or Gullivers Kingdom or take the cable car at the Heights of Abraham. Cycle the various trails that cross the Peak District and wander around the towns of Buxton, Bakewell and Matlock.

Hawthorn Cottage is situated in a small village 1.5 miles from Ashbourne and a short walk from the village pub with its pub garden and small play area. This is a non smoking/non vaping property. Perfect for relaxation, exploring the Peak district or having an adventure holiday.
Ground Floor
Entering the cottage from the driveway, you will find yourself in the well equipped kitchen which also has ample coat hooks and a shoe rack.
Kitchen with painted wood units and slate flooring. Fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster, cafetière, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble drier. There is also a second fridge/freezer in the dining room.
The Dining room leads off the kitchen, with its polished wood floor and antique pine furniture. A dining table with chairs and pew seats 6 people plus a high chair. There is a chest of drawers and glazed cabinet, a side table, corner cupboard and fridge freezer.
The comfortable Sitting room has polished wood flooring with a large rug, two sofas and a leather armchair, seating six people. There is a smart tv with DVD player and a bookcase of books plus 2 cupboards with games, dvd's, and tourist information, plus a cottage information folder and visitors book.
First Floor
Here you will find three bedrooms, two with washbasins and towel rails, plus a family bathroom.
Bedroom one, is a spacious room with a high ceiling, kingsize bed, bedside tables with lamps, a wardrobe and chest of drawers with mirror. plus a washbasin and towel rail. Bedroom two has a double bed with bedside cupboards and lamps, a small chest of drawer and an antique wardrobe with drawer. Bedroom three has twin beds, bedside drawers with table lamp, hanging space with coat hangers and antique pine chest of drawers.
Family Bathroom. A large tiled Shower bath with glass screen, a washbasin with mirror over, and a w.c. plus a storage seat. Extractor fan.
DOGS - 1 well behaved dog is accepted on request. We do not currently charge for the dog, providing owners sign an agreement to clear all traces from inside and outside the cottage, and do not allow the pet on the furniture ,upstairs or leave the dog alone in the house for more than a short period if likely to become distressed. The local pub does allow pets.
Additional information
WIFI internet access. Included are: Bed linen, Kitchen Towels, Complimenary tea tray, Complimentary logs and sticks in colder months.
Electricity, heating, hot water, We cannot supply towels - please bring your own towels
Weekly Changeover days are Fridays January to June and Saturdays July to December.
Short breaks are available November to March excluding school holidays.
