About Foggs’ Barn

Foggs' Barn is a welcoming barn conversion in the Peak District National Park. It is one of two gorgeous holiday homes on Fenns Farm, sitting in a quiet location in the Manifold Valley about half a mile from Butterton and the friendly Black Lion pub. The farm has been in the same family for five generations so there's nothing they don't know about this area whether it's where to ride your bike or the best time of day to do it. By transforming the former cow barn, the owners have created a charming holiday home that is ideal for families or friends as it has accommodation for up to seven people to sleep in three bedrooms (fold-up bed can be provided for the extra guest). A hot tub will also be installed for summer 2021 (additional charge will apply - please speak to the owner for further details).

The Manifold Valley is close to the Dovedale Valley, with miles of beautiful walks, fantastic cycling routes and a network of caves that includes Thor's Cave, only a mile from the barn. The Manifold River is a favourite for fly-fishing with brown trout and grayling being typical catches. The Manifold Trail passes close to Foggs' Barn, and The Roaches and Hartington are both nearby with more stunning walks. If that wasn't enough to keep you happily exploring outdoors, the Dovedale Valley is also within easy reach with more beauty spots, footpaths and cycling trails. It's hard to say what time of the year is the best to visit as the landscape is breathtaking all year round.

In addition to walking, cycling, climbing and caving, you can visit attractions like Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Peak Wildlife Park, Alton Towers and World of Wedgewood. Bakewell is a 15-minute drive from the barn. It's a charming market town with the biggest weekly market in the Peak District that attracts over 100 vendors every Monday. The elegant spa town of Buxton is about 25-minutes from Foggs' Barn, with gorgeous Georgian buildings and a great choice of places to eat, drink and shop.

Fenns Farm has a second self-catering cottage, Fenns Barn, which is similar in size to Foggs' Barn. Depending on availability, the two can be booked together to accommodate extended families or groups of friends. Fenns Farm also has two rustic "glamping" style barns. Accommodation Comprises:

Foggs' Barn is a spacious property with most of the accommodation on the ground floor. Stone walls and flagstone floors are brought up to date with underfloor heating and stylish furnishings.

Downstairs:

  • Walk from the hallway into the spacious open-plan living/dining room at the rear of the cottage, made to feel even bigger thanks to glazed doors opening onto the gravel terrace. Plush sofas, armchairs and a log burner ensure guests can relax in comfort whether they are watching TV or a DVD, reading, or playing a board game. The long dining table easily seats 12 hungry guests so, if you're on holiday with your family and friends in another cottage on the farm, everyone can eat together.
  • Snug with seating, a TV with a DVD player, and a choice of books and games.
  • Two steps lead from the living room to the kitchen which is well equipped with appliances that include a tall fridge-freezer and an integrated dishwasher. There is also a washing machine for guests' convenience.
  • Master bedroom with either a superking or two single beds. This room has an ensuite with a shower, WC and a handbasin.
  • Double bedroom with a superking (6ft-wide) bed or twin single beds, depending on your preference. There is hanging and folding storage space.
  • Shower room with a walk-in shower, WC and a handbasin.

Upstairs:

  • Double bedroom with a superking/twin bed, a skylight, and proper storage. All beds are made up with quality linen for guests arrival.

Outside: Fogg's Barn has an enclosed garden with outdoor seating. A wood-fired hot tub is available for a surcharge. There is parking to the side and front of the cottage.

Additional Information: Bed linen, bath towels, utilities and WiFi are all included. Short breaks are possible outside of peak holiday season, depending on availability. Smoking and pets are not permitted.
