About Crow Pie Cottage

Crow Pie Cottage is a welcoming place where groups of extended families and friends can spend time together. The location could not be more perfect, being in the delightful village of Matlock Bath with a view over the Derwent Valley and within walking distance of shops, restaurants and friendly pubs like The Fishpond with its live music most weekends. With space for up fourteen (plus one) people to sleep in five bedrooms (and downstairs snug with double sofa-bed) and lots of living areas indoors and out, it is a fantastic year-round option.

Matlock Bath is a pretty village within a conservation area in the Derwent Valley. It was a favourite holiday destination with fashionable Victorians who came to "take the waters", and the elegant architecture reflects their love of the area. The village is next to the River Derwent, and there are some beautiful walks including those beside the river and through the Derwent Gardens. Local attractions include the Peak District Lead Mining Museum housed in the pink Grand Pavilion, Matlock Bath, and the Masson Mills Museum. The cable car to the Heights of Abraham is always fun, as is nearby Gulliver's Kingdom Amusement Park.

As charming as the village is, it is the area around Matlock Bath which draws holidaymakers from far and wide. Being on the edge of the Peak District National Park means visitors have easy access to the beautiful landscape, excellent footpaths and exciting mountain bike trails. Places to visit during your stay include Bakewell, which is especially good fun on Mondays when the market is on, Matlock, Buxton and Ashbourne.

Within a short drive are attractions that include Chatsworth House, the Blue John Mines for underground adventures, Alton Towers, Hardwick Hall and the Peak Railway. Combine beautiful scenery with fun attractions and a full calendar of exciting events, and you have everything you need for a fantastic holiday with family and friends.

  • Adjacent to the living room is a snug with a TV and a sofa that opens into a fully sprung double bed. The bookcase holds a good choice of family-friendly books, games and puzzles.
