About Crow Pie Cottage

Crow Pie Cottage is a welcoming place where groups of extended families and friends can spend time together. The location is on the edge of the delightful village of Matlock Bath with a view over the Derwent Valley and within walking distance of shops, restaurants and friendly pubs like The Fishpond with its live music most weekends. With space for up fifteen people to sleep in five bedrooms (and downstairs snug with double sofa-bed) and lots of living areas indoors and out, it is a fantastic year-round option. Eat al-fresco in the summer on the patio with stunning views or snuggle up in front of the log-burning stove in the living area in the winter.

Matlock Bath is a pretty village within a conservation area in the Derwent Valley. It was a favourite holiday destination with fashionable Victorians who came to "take the waters", and the elegant architecture reflects their love of the area. The village is next to the River Derwent, and there are some beautiful walks including those beside the river and through the Derwent Gardens. Local attractions include the Peak District Lead Mining Museum housed in the pink Grand Pavilion, Matlock Bath, and the Masson Mills Museum. The cable car to the Heights of Abraham is always fun, as is nearby Gulliver's Kingdom Amusement Park especially for our younger visitors.

As charming as the village is, it is the area around Matlock Bath which draws holidaymakers from far and wide. Being on the edge of the Peak District National Park means visitors have easy access to the beautiful landscape, excellent footpaths and exciting mountain bike trails. Places to visit during your stay include Bakewell, which is especially good fun on Mondays when the market is on, Matlock, Buxton and Ashbourne.

Within a short drive are attractions that include Chatsworth House, the Blue John Mines for underground adventures, Alton Towers, Hardwick Hall and the Peak Railway. Combine beautiful scenery with fun attractions and a full calendar of exciting events, and you have everything you need for a fantastic holiday with family and friends.

In the Autumn there is the Matlock Bath Illuminations and Venetian Nights when illuminated and decorated boats along the River Derwent (wekeends). The 2024 season will run every Saturday and Sunday night from 6 September to 26 October, with fireworks finales every October Saturday and the final night, 26 October. Crow Pie Cottage is the perfect spot to watch the fireworks and wander down to the village to enjoy the amusements and boats.
