About Croft View Cottage

Croft View is as family-friendly as a Peak District holiday cottage can be, and it should be, after all, the cottage was where the owners lived for 16 years, raising their family in the heart of the national park and which has since won awards for its family-friendly facilities. The house is in Foolow, just down the road from the epicentre of the village (The Bull’s Head) and 1.5 miles from the famous "plague village" of Eyam. Also close by is 'The Barrel' pub, allegedly the highest pub in Derbyshire with stunning views over Foolow and surrounding area and with great food. Croft View sleeps five people in three bedrooms, has a proper country kitchen for self-catering, and an enclosed garden. Visit England has recognised Croft View for its high standard of accommodation with a 4-Star Gold award and family-friendly accreditation, reassuring you that you and your family will be very comfortable here.

Foolow is a quiet village in the Hope Valley, half a mile from the A623. It's virtually in the geographic centre of the Peak District National Park in a location ideal for getting out and about on foot, by bicycle, or by car. The pub serves a tasty seasonal menu and local ales for times you don't want to cook. Bakewell is twenty minutes away with a Coop and weekly market. Buxton is only a few minutes further, with an excellent range of amenities. The owner can tell you which supermarkets deliver if you want your groceries brought to the cottage after your arrival.

Local attractions are many and varied. The Peak District has some of England's finest stately homes and historic houses. Chatsworth is the undisputed golden (quite literally) crown, with others including Haddon Hall, Peveril Castle, National Trust Calke Abbey, and Sudbury Hall, which has a Museum of Childhood. Bring or hire a bicycle - the cottage has outdoor space for cycle storage in a private garden/yard - or make good use of the OS maps and walking books in the cottage. Take the kids to the Heights of Abraham, Gulliver's Kingdom, or the Crich Tramway Museum. Other places to visit are Cauldwell's Mill, RSPB Carsingon, Longshaw National Trust Estate, the caverns of Castleton, and the National Stone Centre.

Guests with young children can request stairgates, a highchair, a travel cot, a steam steriliser, and a changing mat.
