Living
Bruntmoor Cottage is a substantial five-bedroom holiday cottage in Monyash, designed for groups who want space, views and the freedom to relax together properly. Sleeping ten guests across four king-size bedrooms and one twin, the layout works comfortably for milestone birthdays, extended family gatherings and long-overdue weekends with friends. The kitchen is big enough for shared cooking without anyone perching on the sidelines, the separate dining room seats everyone properly, and the lounge brings the group together around an open fire once boots are off and stories start flowing. A conservatory offers a quieter corner overlooking the garden, while the ground-floor en-suite king bedroom adds flexibility for multi-generational stays. Outside, the garden gives you room to spread out. There's a lawn for children and dogs, terrace seating for morning coffee, a BBQ and an outdoor fireplace for leisurely evenings. From the door, you can step straight onto the Tissington and High Peak Trail, making it easy to swap cars for walking boots.
Monyash itself is a classic limestone village with a strong sense of place. The well-known Bull's Head pub is within easy reach and serves hearty food - ideal after a day outdoors - while nearby farm shops and village cafés provide good local provisions. Buxton lies around four miles away, offering the Opera House, Pavilion Gardens and Georgian Crescent, alongside independent shops and regular markets. Five miles in the other direction, Bakewell sits on the River Wye with its Monday market, independent retailers and easy access to Chatsworth Estate. Whether you're planning a celebratory meal out, a cultural evening, or simply topping up supplies, everything is close without disturbing the cottage's peaceful setting.
Beyond the village, the wider Peak District National Park opens up in every direction. The Tissington, High Peak and Monsal Trails provide miles of traffic-free cycling and level walking, ideal for mixed-ability groups. Dovedale's famously photogenic stepping stones, Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and Blue John Cavern are all within comfortable driving distance, while the limestone dales around Monyash offer rewarding circular walks straight from the doorstep. For those adding a little adrenaline to the weekend, Alton Towers is around 25 minutes away. As a holiday cottage in the Peak District, Bruntmoor Cottage combines elevated countryside views with direct access to some of Derbyshire's most iconic landscapes in a setting that feels wonderfully removed from the hubbub of daily life without feeling remote.
