Bosgin Cottage brings together the best of Peak District living: solid stone walls, generous space and a setting that encourages you to slow down. Converted from a former barn, it has a natural sense of openness that works well for couples, families or friends sharing. Two large bedrooms sleep four comfortably, while downstairs has space to properly unwind rather than simply pass through. Evenings tend to drift between the roomy lounge and the dining space, with plans made for the next day over a glass of wine or a board game. Step outside and you’re straight into village life, with The Bulls Head just a five-minute walk away as a reliable choice for an excellent meal when no one feels like cooking.
Life in Monyash moves at its own gentle pace. The village green gives it a sense of open space, and it's not unusual to see walkers setting off early or returning with muddy boots and big smiles. One of the real highlights is how quickly you can reach open countryside. A short walk leads into Lathkill Dale, where clear water winds through limestone valleys and the scenery changes with every turn. For a change of pace, Bakewell is only five miles away, known for its independent shops, cafés and its famous pudding. Head in the other direction and Buxton offers something a little grander, with its elegant architecture, gardens and year-round events.
Days out here can be as active or as easy-going as you like. Walkers tend to gravitate towards Dovedale for its stepping stones, or the wide views along Monsal Dale and the traffic-free Monsal Trail. If you’d rather mix things up, Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are both within easy reach and make absorbing day trips, especially when the gardens are in full colour. Carsington Water is a good shout for cycling or watersports, while Alton Towers adds a dose of energy for families. However the day unfolds, returning to Bosgin Cottage feels easy - a home from home and somewhere familiar, comfortable, and well placed to do it all again tomorrow.
