Orchid Lodge is a fantastic waterfront holiday cottage in Horning on the beautiful Norfolk Broads. Recently refurbished by the owners, the two-bedroom cottage sleeps four people and is perfect for couples or families, especially those who love boating and fishing. You are mere steps from the River Bure with views over Ferry Marina from the patio and every window in the house. You're also within walking distance of the friendly Ferry Inn, which has a waterfront beer garden and a menu of family-favourite dishes. Horning is a thriving village, but you won't be disturbed by any busy bustle at this lovely cottage. Instead, you'll have peaceful views of ducks, geese, herons and swans, and boats coming and going from the marina.
Horning showcases everything wonderful about the Norfolk Broads. It has scenic waterways, lots of birds and wildlife, and a central location that makes it easy to explore the waterways and countryside of the national park. Boat and bicycle hire are available locally for guests who want to leave the car behind and enjoy a more relaxed pace. Every June, the Horning Sailing Club hosts a boat show, a 24-hour endurance race on the rivers Bure, Ant and Thorne, and there's a summer fete on the green. It's a charming place to live and visit. Wroxham and Hoveton are only three miles from the cottage, giving you even more choices of attractions and amenities.
Even novice sailors can enjoy boating, kayaking, canoeing or paddleboarding on the Broads. The views from the water are as memorable as countryside footpaths or routes beside the river, so don't limit your sightseeing to the land. Mix up relaxed days of boating and cycling with a day or two of sightseeing and shopping in Norwich. Alternatively, drive half an hour east to the beautiful Norfolk coast and beaches like Winterton-on-Sea. Local attractions include beWILDerwood, Thrigby Hall Wildlife Gardens, Roarr! Dinosaur Adventure, the Bure Valley Railway in Aylsham, Great Yarmouth's Hippodrome Circus, and Pleasurewood Hills.
The owner's used to use Orchid Lodge as their holiday cottage in Norfolk, so you can trust that it's well equipped for everything you'll need for a self-catering holiday on the Broads. They loved the area so much that the moved up to nearby Wroxham.
Bookings are available from Easter to November. Whilst most bookings are for 1 week (Saturday - Saturday), some short breaks are available - please enquire or look at the online calendar for more details.
