About Farthing Green Holiday Apartments

Farthing Green House is a large listed building in Loddon, a Norfolk village with easy access to the Norfolk Broads, the coast and the historic city of Norwich. The building contains three newly created self-contained holiday apartments offering affordable luxury. The owners live in the West Wing and are on site to ensure that you have everything you need for a relaxing time.

The spacious Directors Suite occupies the whole first floor of the main Georgian part of the building. Over the past 70 years, these impressive rooms have been used as offices by the Directors and senior managers of previous occupiers. These rooms have now been restored to reflect the grandeur that they would have had in the early 1900s when the building was a large family home. The Directors Suite provides a great self-catering base from which to explore the surrounds by foot, bicycle, motorcycle, car, public transport and river craft. There are shops, pubs (most with food), cafes and takeaways within easy walking distance.

Loddon itself is filled with quaint, historic buildings and a variety of local shops including a post office, chemist and supermarket. The Church of the Holy Trinity is a stunning example of 15th-century architecture. Nature lovers will enjoy a visit to Wherryman's Way, a long-distance footpath along the River Yare. Here, and on other local walks (or cycles if you prefer), you can enjoy the tranquil environment and wildlife sightings. For those interested in boating, the Loddon Staithe is a popular spot from which to watch the boats pass by or to take to the water by canoe. Day boats can be hired by the hour in nearby Beccles.

Beccles and Bungay are two delightful towns located near Loddon, offering their own unique attractions for tourists. Beccles, nestled beside the River Waveney, is known for its beautiful Bell Tower, offering stunning panoramic views of the town and surrounding countryside. Bungay, a historic market town, is rich in folklore and legends. The ruins of Bigod's (Bungay) Castle, dating back to the 12th century, are worth a visit. The River Waveney Valley surrounding the town offers picturesque walking and cycling routes. For a day by the sea, the beautiful beaches of Great Yarmouth, Lowestoft, and Southwold are 30 minutes away.

The Directors Suite has four spacious double bedrooms including the stand-out Gold Room and three bathrooms. There is also a fully equipped kitchen with a breakfast bar for the early risers. The large living room has a dining table for eight as well as sofas and armchairs from which to enjoy a chat or catch up on some TV. Although the kitchen and bathrooms are provided with modern appliances and fittings, there is also a wide use of pre-loved and repurposed items (including use of desktops for shelving). The Directors Suite is particularly suited for friends and extended families enjoying time together.

  • Outside there is ample off-road parking as well as extensive gardens, outdoor dining tables and chairs as well as use of a BBQ
  • Cot and a high chair are available
  • Washing/drying machines are available for use (although not located within the Directors Suite)
  • Guests are welcome to use the shared gym and common room on the ground floor
  • The Directors Suite is provided with wi-fi broadband throughout

  • Since all rooms are provided with fire detectors, smoking or vaping indoors is not permitted. There are designated smoking areas outside.
  • Pets are not permitted.
  • The property owners live in the West Wing and are available to help with any queries or issues during your stay.
  • Given the presence of the owners and, potentially, other guests, loud parties are not permitted.
