About Blackfriars, 14 Peninsula Cottages

Blackfriars, 14 Peninsula Cottages sleep up to four guests in two bedrooms and affords an enviable waterside position in the popular Broadland village of Wroxham. Sitting right in the heart of Norfolk Broads on the River Bure the cottage has water frontage at both the front and rear of the property with excellent private fishing (when in season) on the doorstep or anywhere around the lawned waterfront areas of Penisula Cottages. There is approximately 3-4 acres of private grounds for you to fish and particularly good pike fishing in the winter, or sit on the cottage decking and watch the waterfront and wildlife activities with your morning coffee or evening glass of wine. There is also a good range of pubs, shops, boat hire and riverside walks. You can also take a tour of the broads on a paddle steamer within just a five minute walk of Blackfriars Cottage.

You can hire a small boat for the half day or day (just five minutes walk away) which are very easy to drive. The speed limit is only five miles an hour on the Broads, and the great thing about the Boards is that there are no locks to navigate making it pleasurable and relaxing. You can take a picnic with you to eat on the boat or moor up at one of the riverside pubs, a really enjoyable way to spend a day. If you just want to relax and watch the boating activities on the river, new outside decking to the property has just been put in, south facing the river which is only a few feet away allowing guests to enjoy the sunshine for most of the day. Considered one of the most desirable local areas, the cottage sits on the Peninsula Development which is a water lovers paradise with communal gardens allowing guests to enjoy all the river has to offer. Visited by an array of wildlife, it is common to see swans, geese and ducks in the grounds as well as herons and at times (if you are lucky!) otters.

Spend your days sitting on the cottage patio enjoying the view down river, hire a boat or kayak and explore the magical waterways under your own steam, take a leisurely walk along the river or relax over a long lunch in a riverside pub. Whatever you do, you are bound to be drawn to the attraction of the river on the doorstep! Cycle hire and horse riding are available locally or for something a little more relaxing, take a nostalgic trip on the Bure Valley Steam Railway from Wroxham and sit back and enjoy ten miles of stunning countryside enroute to Aylsham village. A lovely effortless way of taking in the local scenery.

Situated approximately 18 miles from the seaside resort of Great Yarmouth on Norfolk's stunning coast, there are many gorgeous soft sandy beaches within easy driving distance. Visit Horsey beach to see the seal colonies and walk the coastal path (or along the beach) to Winterton-on-Sea with a beachside cafe providing a warm welcome at the other end. The vibrant city of Norwich is also only nine miles away in the opposite direction and great for those seeking culture, history and the chance to do some holiday shopping!

For the younger party members, a day out BeWilderwood is sure to be a holiday highlight and only fifteen minutes away by car. Horning is another pretty Broadland village (just fifteen minutes drive) where you can hire a boat and explore more of the waterways with riverside pubs along the way for refreshments. Go up the river to Coltishall or down towards Potter Higham - either way you are sure to have an enjoyable day out on the water. Other popular attractions including Sandringham Estate (popular with the Royals!), Blickling Hall (the former residence of Anne Boleyn), Holker Hall (the walk along the beach from Holker to Wells-next-the-Sea is stunning!) and Cromer with its impressive pier.

Norfolk really is an unsung hero in terms of holiday destinations in the UK. A county of big open skies, vast golden beaches and magical waterways, making it every bit as popular with locals as it is with wildlife and tourists.
